Easter: When Things Are Not As They Seem
Rev. Lee Anne Washington
Rampant partisanship in every aspect of our communal lives makes it difficult to determine what’s really going on. Similarly, the Easter story is rife with misunderstandings, misidentifications, and miscommunications. As a religious community, what should we do when things are not as they appear? Join us as Rev. Lee Anne explores the Easter story with this question in mind and invites us to consider the gifts that come with a new perspective.
The Break Forth Ensemble will lead us in song and the children will hunt for Easter eggs during the service.

Children's Religious Education Schedule
April 6th, 13th RE Classes (Theme is joy). This month we will be looking at where joy can be found, and we will begin by exploring how joy is found in “foolishness.” Think fun, silliness, jokes, and the good-hearted frivolity that makes us happy to be alive.
April 20th - Easter egg hunt.
April 27th - No RE

We Have Baby Chicks
Bellwood Preschool is happy to announce that we have hatched 6 chicks in the last week. They are living their best life in a brooder box at a temperature of 95F for the next week or so, and then they will go to their forever homes with a Bellwood family or two who raise chickens.
Melissa Nelson will be in the Bellwood building after the service this Sunday for anyone who would like to see (and hold!) a chick. Please come in the lower-level door and up the stairs to the second level (careful, these are old basement farm house stairs and they are quite narrow!).
We hope to see you Sunday!

Coffee Hour Needs you!
Building on our commitment to being a welcoming congregation offering radical hospitality as we co-create the beloved community, we want to reiterate our coffee hour protocol.
Every Sunday, please:
- bring a little something to eat*
- pitch in to load the dishwashers and throw out the trash-many hands make light work
- take home any leftovers from your contribution
A Few Times a Year, please:
- pick a Sunday to start the coffee, dress the tables, and put out cups, plates, and flatware
- sign up on the large sign-up sheet in Friendship Hall
Just as in the Stone Soup parable, if we all bring a little of what we have, everyone will feast! Without volunteers willing to sign up, there can be no coffee hour. Please do your part and keep coffee hour alive!
*That little something could be an apple, a hunk of cheese, a sleeve of crackers, a plate of brownies, or even leftover frittata from your garden party!

A Big Thank You -- We are so excited for the new decor now hanging in Friendship hall. This was a group effort!
Rev. Lee Anne saw an opportunity to promote our 7 principles and 6 sources. Robyn designed the banners and coordinated with the capital campaign committee. Craft group volunteers (Jody Clark, Diana Hull, Julie Kant) placed the banners on the sound panels. Members of the capital campaign committee (Don Nelson, Will Nelson, Diana Hull, Joe Meier, and Scott Gorham) installed the sound panels and banners.

Area Meeting on Achieving Fair Districts for PA.
Join us on May 10th at 2:00pm to learn about the harms of gerrymandering and what we can do about it. RSVP using the instructions on the flyer here.
The mapping of voting districts to give unfair advantage to whatever political party happens to be the majority (gerrymandering), has led to hobbling litigation and political gridlock at PENNSYLVANIA’s legislative level. Current legislation under consideration would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to create an independent citizen redistricting commission.
