What's the Big Deal About Methane?
The Green Sanctuary Team
Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and a major driver of climate change. In fact, reducing methane emissions can have a much greater impact on slowing global warming than reducing carbon dioxide.
What makes methane especially urgent is that it's all around us—from agriculture and landfills to energy production—making this issue deeply personal and impossible to ignore.
The Green Sanctuary team is sharing the facts about methane and practical action ideas you’re sure to use.

Joys and Sorrows
From Alan Lantzy, a joy: After 4 and 1/2 months of hospitalization with multiple surgeries and treatments, my 62-year-old cousin Leslie was sent home on hospice care. She feels serene and is glad to be outside enjoying spring and watching and hearing her grandchildren at play. This is my joy and her family’s.
Note: When you want to share a joy or sorrow submit it electronically by clicking here by Saturday. Alternatively, you may can fill out a card as you enter the sanctuary on Sunday.

Coffee Hour Needs you!
Building on our commitment to being a welcoming congregation offering radical hospitality as we co-create the beloved community, we want to reiterate our coffee hour protocol.
Every Sunday, please:
- bring a little something to eat*
- pitch in to load the dishwashers and throw out the trash-many hands make light work
- take home any leftovers from your contribution
A Few Times a Year, please:
- pick a Sunday to start the coffee, dress the tables, and put out cups, plates, and flatware
- sign up on the large sign-up sheet in Friendship Hall
Just as in the Stone Soup parable, if we all bring a little of what we have, everyone will feast! Without volunteers willing to sign up, there can be no coffee hour. Please do your part and keep coffee hour alive!
*That little something could be an apple, a hunk of cheese, a sleeve of crackers, a plate of brownies, or even leftover frittata from your garden party!

Area Meeting on Achieving Fair Districts for PA.
Join us on May 10th at 2:00pm to learn about the harms of gerrymandering and what we can do about it. RSVP using the instructions on the flyer here.
The mapping of voting districts to give unfair advantage to whatever political party happens to be the majority (gerrymandering), has led to hobbling litigation and political gridlock at PENNSYLVANIA’s legislative level. Current legislation under consideration would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to create an independent citizen redistricting commission.
