Joys and Sorrows

A Joy from Erin Terrizzi: Her mom's surgery went very well. She's been home for a few days with lots of family & friends support. She has a long recovery but is getting better each day. Thank you for your ongoing support.

A Joy from Lori and David Sours: It is their great joy to share that their grandson Eddie was born on March 3. His parents, Katie and Joe, and his 3-year-old sister Clara are thrilled and thriving. Katie was born while they were active members of UUCNH, so it’s a special joy to share this news with you – old friends and new in our UUCNH community.

Note: When you want to share a joy or sorrow submit it electronically by clicking here by Saturday. Alternatively, you may can fill out a card as you enter the sanctuary on Sunday.

Transforming Ourselves

Call for Board and Leadership Development Team Nominations

Are you interested in joining the UUCNH Board of Trustees or the Leadership Development Team?

Per the UUCNH bylaws, this announcement is our formal posting of a call for nominations to begin a 3-year term starting in July, 2025. For the Board, specify if the nomination is to serve on the Leadership Track. Nominees must be members and consent to the nomination.

Contact LDT (ldt@uucnh.org) no later than 4/11/2025 if you are interested in submitting a nomination or if you have questions.

Capital Campaign Status Summary

The monthly CC Status Summary

Spreadsheet shows the prioritized project list, our initial estimated cost of each project, actual contractor quotes we have received for the work and much more.

This is the first CC’22 Status Summary since October 2024. We have had difficulty with the Air Conditioning (AC) project. We lost the mechanical engineer we were originally working with, but found a new one who has been working with us since October 2024. The AC project is the

largest cost project in the CC. As mentioned at the Mid-year congregational meeting in January, we have been wary of moving forward with too many other projects until we have a handle on the AC cost, hence there has been reduced spending of CC funds recently.

Please click this link to review the latest CC Status Summary Spreadsheet update. We are still working on several projects other than the AC. Projects with signed contracts include, the Memorial Walls in the Celebration Garden, Stormwater Improvements, additional Solar Panels and the Mechanical Engineer for design of the AC system.

See this link for a more detailed discussion of our progress to date.

We are trying to self-perform as much of the work as possible. Anyone with a desire to lend a hand is welcome to contact Joe Meier (see below). People with electrical wiring or carpentry skills would be especially welcome. Any questions or offers of help can be sent to Joe Meier at capitalcampaign@uucnh.org.

Imagine the Possibilities- Stewardship Pledge Drive

We invite you to imagine the possibilities for our liberal religious community and for the world we can create together. The strength and vibrancy of our beloved community depends on your generosity – which is already evident in the fifty-eight pledges totalling $258,118 that have been turned in! Just imagine what’s possible as the remaining eighty of you offer your pledges!

You have three ways to submit your pledge: meet with your canvasser; fill out a card found in the breezeway, or enter it online at https://uucnh.org/uucnh-pledging/. If you want a pledge card and haven’t received one yet, contact (CarolBallance@uucnh.org or MichaelHorwitz@uucnh.org). All pledge units receive an entry for a drawing to be held on April 6th. The prize is an $80 gift card for two tickets for the Burgh Bus.

What do you imagine for the future of UUCNH? After you have pledged, please let us know your thoughts by putting them on a dove and placing it on the mural in the sanctuary.

Our Caring Community Still Needs You

Are you able to:

  • provide companionship to a person who is lonely?
  • lend some tools to a fellow congregant?
  • offer rides to the grocery store or to the doctors office?
  • provide a meal to a family that has had a recent birth or loss?
  • hold a baby or play with a toddler so that the parents can get some work done or take a nap?
  • do small household jobs like hanging pictures, weeding a small garden, cutting a lawn?

If you said yes to any of these questions, the Caring Community team would love to hear from you.  Please email caringcommunity@uucnh.org and tell us how you can help. Your name will be added to a list of people that we will reach out to when a need arises.
