Beyond Categorical Thinking: The Van Gogh Café
Service Leader: Keith Kron, UUA Transitions Director
Sunday, December 2, 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM in the Sanctuary
Living our Unitarian Universalist values isn't always as easy as we would like. Often what we strive for is not what actually happens. How can we lead with our best values inside and outside our congregation? This sermon will explore these issues as they pertain to your next minister.
 Come to the workshop tomorrow!

Green Sanctuary
At the Green Sanctuary table near the library and choir office, you will find boxes marked Recycle Art Materials throughout the month of December. We are especially interested in collecting single-use plastic water bottles and colorful plastic bottle and jar lids. We will soon sponsor workshops to make recycled art projects. Please join us for our regular meeting Tuesday, December 11, at 6:30 PM in the Johnson Room or Office 2. Light refreshments are served.
What is happening at the Advancing Justice table this Sunday?
Please stop by to pick up information on UUJAZ’s educational opportunities related to climate change, supplies for migrants passing through Phoenix, and donations to support California fire victims.

The holiday season always seems to signal More! Bigger! Newer! Faster! in every aspect of our lives. Even as we enjoy the amenities of modern life, there is wisdom in considering Smaller-Simpler-Slower to create meaningful celebrations of light in the darkening season.

Beyond Categorical Thinking Workshop & Worship
Saturday, December 1 from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Rev. Keith Kron, UUA Transitions Director
Beyond Categorical Thinking (BCT)” is a weekend program designed to promote inclusive thinking and help participants come to terms with their own, often involuntary “categorical thinking.” The program is conducted by trained leaders who have examined their own fears and prejudices, and have learned effective methods to address these fears in themselves and in our UU congregations. During morning services on Sunday, Keith Kron, will lead both services to share valuable insights.

Becoming a Safer Congregation
We are constantly reminded that the world is a dangerous and unpredictable place, and the new Safe Congregation Team at UUCP is updating our emergency response plans. Here are some ways you can be part of becoming a safer congregation
  • Engage newcomers. Make them feel welcome.
  • Lock your car on our premises to avoid vandalism. Don’t leave valuable items in full view.
  • Get involved in the Safety Team: Contact Lora Gustafson at
  • Check out emergency preparedness on; know basic actions to take in an active shooter situation:
We look forward to creating a safer congregation with you!
