Sunday, April 8, 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM
Since 1946, Unitarian Universalists have congregated here, seeking community, working to create a better world. Upcoming Classes & Events
Pathway to Membership
Thursdays, April 12 and 19, 6:45 PM-8:30 PM
Pathway to Membership is a class that invites you to meet with other folks considering membership and hear more from ministers, leaders, and recently-joined members about what it means to be a member of our congregation. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Unitarian Universalism and UUCP, get to know each other in  groups, and ask questions. The class ends with an invitation to join by signing the membership book and pledging your support. There is no pressure to join. We recognize membership is a commitment, and we hope people will take their time before joining. This will be the last opportunity to join before fall 2018.

Traveling 2nd Fridays
Friday, April 13, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Sanctuary
Please join us for a one-hour travel presentation on MONGOLIA: WIDE-OPEN SPACES by Harriet Williams. In September 2016 Harriet Williams toured Mongolia for 15 days, from the Gobi Desert in the south, to Khovsgol Lake in the Alpine north, spending several days in the capital Ulaanbaatar. One fifth of Mongolia's population are still nomadic herders, living in easily-transportable "gers" (aka, yurts) very much like ones steppe tribespeople lived in 3000 years ago. These days, however, many gers are flanked by solar panels and satellite dishes. In 1990 the people staged a peaceful revolution that brought democracy to their nation, along with a renewed acceptance of Buddhism and of Genghis Khan. Please call Barbara Cawthorne with any questions at 480-994-1452 or by email below.

LED bulbs will be available for purchase near the library starting  Sunday, March 25. Let us know if you need a different type, and we'll do the shopping for you.  Also, remember to go to   to send your comments to the governor asking to use the $57 Million from that suit to buy electric school buses for high pollution school districts.
Outdoor Group Hike
Saturday, April 14, Watson Lake
We are looking forward to  April 14 for our Watson Lake Hike. Watson Lake is in Prescott, and the temperatures are going to be a little cooler than here in the Valley of the Sun. I think we can safely plan on meeting to carpool at  7:00, driving to the trailhead, hiking for approximately  2:30 to 3:00 hours, and then deciding where to enjoy a lunch together before we drive home.

Hike details including directions to the carpool meet up are attached.  I have also attached a map of the hike as well as directions to the trailhead for those who do not wish to carpool. The weather looks ideal for this adventure.  Let's strap on our boots and go see some beautiful country and enjoy a good meal!
Emrys' farewell sermon and celebration
Sunday, April 29, one service at 10:30 AM
Emrys will preach his final sermon, "My Top 10: What I'll Cherish from UUCP," at 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary. This service will be followed by a farewell celebration in the Johnson Room and Emrys is also inviting everyone to join him afterwards at Piestewa Park at the Mojave Ramada at 3:00 PM for a Grill n Chill afternoon plus a sunset watching hike at 6:30 PM.
Let's Show our Support for Emrys
It has been so rewarding for all of us to watch Emrys Staton learn and grow during his time as a ministerial intern and then as our Director of Pastoral and Justice Ministries. Now it is time for Emrys to launch to the next stage of his ministerial journey. At the Sunday service on April 29, he will offer his final sermon here, and we will celebrate and thank him.

Emrys has invested his love, time, and talent in our UUCP community.  Now, the Board of Trustees has created an opportunity to provide a financial gift to him, showing our gratitude and best wishes.  You can make a tax-deductible contribution to a gift for Emrys (on or before April 30) by check payable to UUCP ("Emrys gift" in the memo line), through the website, click "Give" and enter your information, including the note "Emrys gift" in the optional memo.
UUCP Switching to a new Database System
You might have noticed when trying to login into the UUCP directory that it is no longer around. We have switched to a new system from the same company that will make life much easier. Please visit for information and instructions.

Curiosity and Vulnerability: A path toward better listening
Saturdays, April 14, 21 and 28, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Annex C
Facilitator: Phil Weaver-Stoesz

The Critical Response Process is a step-by-step process to give and receive feedback, embrace vulnerability and dismantle  defensiveness. The process teaches you to lean on the virtues of curiosity and open inquiry to facilitate difficult conversations and can be applied to any "work-in-progress" -
whether it's an artistic goal, a relationship, or a personal area of growth. The 3-part course will teach us to transform discomfort into inquiry.
