Embrace the Elephant
Service Leader Rev. Margret A. O’Neall
Sunday, August 19, 10:30 AM in the Sanctuary
We talk a lot about elephants as a metaphor for something large and mysterious – the elephant in the room, or perhaps perceiving parts of the elephant without understanding the whole. How do we learn to embrace, to cherish, to engage with the elephants in our lives?

Community Night needs you!
Planning for this season of Community Nights is underway, and we are looking for your talents! Each Thursday, September 13 - November 15, join us at 6:00 PM in the Johnson Room for a meal featuring the talents of the fabulous cooks in our congregation. If you’d like to contribute as a Chef or Sous Chef (sides, salad, or bread), we will be meeting soon to plan the menus. Contact us ASAP to let us know you are interested.
Following the meals we have an exciting Fall line-up of small groups, classes, activities and discussions that will bring us closer to living into our vision of being Theologically Diverse, Radically Inclusive, and Justice Centered. If you are willing to facilitate a class, with curriculum provided, or you have an idea for a topic you'd like to present, we'd love to hear from you! Please contact the Community Night coordinator at
Maryland School Partnership
It’s July, and it’s hot!    Who is thinking about school?    We are , because the school year will be starting on August 6 th , and students will be lining up to enter their classrooms.    Many students come to Maryland School from families that have a very difficult time providing support for their children, school budgets are inadequate to maintain needed programs, and teachers often spend their own money to have necessary supplies.    Also many students require extra help to master grade level skills.    Your help is needed in a variety of ways!    Please check the July/August  Horizons  for more information about our partnership, stop by the Justice Ministry table on a  Sunday   or  click here  to  to pick up a list of needed supplies and opportunities for volunteering.   We will be collecting supplies from July 22-August 12, 2018.
