"Becoming Better or Becoming Ourselves"
Rev. Sue Browning
Online Zoom ONLY Worship Service
Sunday, January 2, 2022 | 10 am
What does it mean to live with intention? Is living an intentional life the same as living a goal driven life? At this service led by Rev. Sue Browning we'll begin the new year considering how we might make room for our lives to unfold with intent and grace in 2022. This will be a virtual service (Zoom only) that we'll share with UUFE.
So we can begin the worship service promptly at 10 am, please sign into Zoom ( click here) by no later than 9:50 am. A virtual coffee hour will immediately follow the service.
Please submit "Joys and Concerns" and "Announcements" in advance by emailing them to the UUCR office ( click here) by 9 pm Saturday.

Dear Members and Friends,
As this holiday week proceeds, it’s hard to miss the news on Covid, and in particular on the Omicron variant. This letter is to update the congregation on the process UUCR will use to re-assess our ongoing plans for services and operations in light of these latest developments.
As background, last spring the board appointed a Re-Opening Task Force to establish and implement safety guidelines for the congregation. The Task Force includes Jim Lavin (Task Force Chair), Nancy Holland (Board President), Rev. Sue Browning (Minister), and members Pat Bjorke, Gayle Folger, and Jackie Mathwich.
UUCR’s current guidelines for in-person services require that everyone wears a mask, stays socially distanced (the chairs are spaced), and signs in, just in case names are needed for contact tracing. The guidelines do not permit congregational singing, passing the plate, or coffee hour. The guidelines were last updated and shared with the congregation in Reflections on November 18. UUCR continues to offer its services online (Zoom) as well as in person, knowing that each member’s individual risk profile and assessment varies.
Over the coming week, the Re-Opening Task Force will meet and assess whether UUCR should continue in-person Sunday services in light of the Omicron variant. The group will assess local and regional transmission levels, health experts’ advice, and review UUCR’s protocols.
The Task Force’s recommendations will not be complete before this Sunday. While we await its evaluation, our service this Sunday, January 2, 2022, will be a virtual (Zoom-only) service. Please see details to access this service in the Worship section of the newsletter.
If you have input you would like the Re-Opening Task Force to consider, please let us know.
We do recognize everyone is tired of working through all that comes with Covid. There is no simple path. As you see ways for UUCR to support you and your family, please be in touch.
In care, as we begin the New Year,
Nancy Holland
Board President
Jim Lavin
Re-Opening Task Force Chair
Rev. Sue Browning
Minister

LDC Call for Volunteers for the Stewardship Drive
It’s time for the annual Stewardship Drive, where we seek pledges from members and friends to support next year’s budget. There are two members who’ve already committed to helping out, and we are looking for two other folks to help with the process. Mainly, the committee compiles and sends out pledge materials to members and friends, keeps track of which ones have been returned, and follows up with those people who have not returned theirs. The committee will begin its work very soon in January.
One good thing is that this is a “time-limited” commitment. The BEST thing is that this essential work ensures the operation of UUCR for another year — supports our staff, our worship program, our upkeep of the building and grounds, our music program, and the work of the various committees.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we delivered 25 gifts to a family of six in Kent County, plus gift cards to Kent and Queen Anne's County Department of Social Services valued at more than $500 for needy families during the holidays. In addition, in support of our growing partnership with Kent Attainable Housing, we were able to provide a gift card for the Jones Family to help them celebrate the holidays as they transition to their new home in Worton in January.
Thanks for making our first Outreach Collection of the new church year such a success!
Thanks,
Lynn D.
