THIS SUNDAY'S
WORSHIP SERVICE
"Who and What Makes You Smile and Sometimes Laugh Out Loud?"

Linda Weimer & Diane Shields,
Service Leaders

In Person, In Sanctuary
Summer Discussion Service

July 18, 2021
10 am

Who and what makes you smile and sometimes laugh out loud? A friend, a comedian, a ridiculous event, something nobody could have predicted? Diane Shields and Linda Weimer will lead this session on anything that strikes our funny bones. The discussion will include their fond memories of the late UUCR comic spirit - Alice Lindsay - and the reading of her published short story Human Nature Abhors a Vacuum.

Congregational Concerns
Marilee Taussig, a faithful friend of UUCR, experienced a serious fall on her bike on June 30. After several surgeries for damage to her right arm and leg, she is undergoing acute rehab at Magee Rehabilitation in Philly for about the next three weeks. She would love to get email messages, marileetaussig@gmail.com. When she gets home, she may also need some help, so stay tuned. Thanks for your support, Lynn Dolinger, lynn.thirdwish@gmail.com.
UUCR Friends,

The UUFE Board and Members would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the many members of UUCR who helped produce the recorded Sunday services that held us all together through the dark year of Covid.

UUCR members of the "Sunday Services Tech Team" were truly awesome. John Ramsey, David Biehler, and Jim Lavin together put in hundreds of hours to produce the recorded UUFE/UUCR videos. Many times they patiently waited for us to compile our parts - the last pieces of the music or sermon - before they put the final touches on the service video. John and David often "logged in as UUFE" to upload videos to our UUFE YouTube channel - sometimes very late Saturday night - to ensure that it was in place for the service next morning. It was a pleasure to work with them each week.

Our thanks also to Annie Lavin and Nancy Holland for being service leaders at many of the shared services, and for coordinating and producing services with guest ministers.  Pat Bjorke was wonderful as presenter of Thoughts for All Ages. Phil Dutton on piano was truly inspiring and helped all of us through the dark time.

No doubt there were other UUCR members working behind the scenes to bring it all together on Sunday mornings. Please accept our thanks, along with our hope for more partnering with UUCR in many more activities in the future.

Your Help is Needed to Support
Minary's Dream Alliance
Please consider attending a Kent County Planning and Zoning hearing on Monday, July 19, 7 pm at 400 High Street.

The Chesmar Community Association has filed an appeal with the Kent County Planning and Zoning Board seeking to prevent the purchase of the American Legion building by Minary's Dream Alliance (MDA). MDA has widespread support in our community from many institutions and individuals. Over $600,000 has been raised in three months to purchase the property.

The mission of MDA is to transform the lives of youth, families and communities through education, resource development and community engagement. Doncella Wilson and Paul Tue are the Executive Directors of MDA. Please help support the dream to bring needed services and support to those in our community who need it most.

Please show up next Monday evening.

The Insight Meditation Community of Chestertown, Maryland, holds their weekly Tuesday meetings at UUCR from 6 to 7 pm. Come join us — all are welcome! Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to allow everyone time to settle in before the session begins.
