When we begin something, we almost always know it will end. What we almost never know is just how. At Rev. Sue Browning’s final service as UUCR’s minister, she will reflect on her seven years of ministry with our congregation and consider the art of a good good-bye.

"UUA General Assembly Worship Service"


Rev. Molly Housh Gordon, of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia, MO will lead the Sunday Service at General Assembly 2024.


A lifelong Unitarian Universalist from Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Rev. Molly Housh Gordon is the minister of the UU Church of Columbia, Missouri, where she is currently suing the state of Missouri for their unconstitutional abortion ban alongside 13 other multi-faith clergy co-plaintiffs. Molly is passionate about red-state UU ministry, community organizing, and mutual aid. In addition to her ministry and organizing work, Molly is a published essayist and poet completing a Doctor of Ministry in Creative Writing and Public Theology. Alongside her wonderful spouse, she is the delighted parent of two very fierce young children and one very chill old dog.

Good-bye Opportunities with Rev. Sue

As noted in the Reflections on June 6, Rev. Sue is making time to meet with members as she wraps up her time as our minister. It was wonderful to see everyone at the celebration event on June 11. Her last service/sermon will be this Sunday June 16, and she will stay for a while after the service. Sue will also be available at UUCR on Thursday, June 13 (11-1:30, 2:30-3:30), Tuesday, June 18 (10-12, 1:30-3), and Thursday, June 20 (10-2). If you'd like to schedule time with Sue in person or by phone/Zoom, please reach out to her. It is also fine to stop by during one of those times. 

National Music Festival Concert at UUCR



The National Music Festival will once again hold some of their presentations and rehearsals at UUCR from June 2 - 15.

 

The next "Lunchtime Piano Bites" at UUCR will be on Thursday, June 13 beginning at 12:30.

June 19 Deadline

for Fiscal Year 24 Financial Matters


The deadline for all Fiscal Year 24 pledge & auction payments and reimbursement & payment requests is June 19th to allow time for processing prior to the end of the fiscal year,

UUA General Assembly — June, 20 - 23

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.


GA will be held June 20th–23rd and is totally online this year.

Summer Solstice Celebration & Potluck

The PROC Committee will host a Summer Solstice Celebration followed by a potluck in the UUCR Woodland Memorial Garden (weather permitting) on Friday, June 21st, beginning at 6 p.m. Come to enjoy the fellowship and please bring a dish to share. Please contact John Ramsey johnramsey1948@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you can help with the set up and/or clean up. Thanks!

Discussion Leader Needed — 7/7 & 8/25


We need a discussion leader for both the July 7 and August 25 summer discussion service. Please sign up on the sheet provided on the whiteboard. If you are new to this and have any questions, please contact Nancy Holland.

Undoing Racism Training Sessions

— June 27 & 28

The Social Action for Racial Justice is sponsoring the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB)’s, two and a half day training.
This training will take place on June 27th from 4 - 7 p.m, June 28th, and June 29th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. PISAB's expectation is for all attendees to commit to ALL three sessions.
This event will be held at Minary’s Dream Alliance located at 9155 American Legion Road, Chestertown, MD 21620.
Food and childcare will be available at no cost. This is a free training.
