When we begin something, we almost always know it will end. What we almost never know is just how. At Rev. Sue Browning’s final service as UUCR’s minister, she will reflect on her seven years of ministry with our congregation and consider the art of a good good-bye.

Book Relating to Last Sunday's Discussion



A book that relates to last Sunday's discussion of memorials is Robert E. Lee and Me: A Southerner's Reckoning with the Myth of the Lost Cause." The author is Brigadier General Ty Seidule, U. S. Army (Retired). He is Professor Emeritus of History at West Point and currently Visiting Professor at Hamilton College. He grew up in Alexandria and attended Washington and Lee.

Cleaning Party - Saturday, June 1

Come out to UUCR this

Saturday, June 1, beginning at 9 a.m.


Goals are:


Thoroughly clean the sanctuary, lobby, hallway, lounge, and kitchen.


Sanctuary: This will require stacking and moving the chairs in the sanctuary in order to vacuum, clean up wax drips and coffee stains.


Dust - over the windows and edges of ceilings, photos hanging on the walls, and all other items in the sanctuary.

Replace chairs in their usual configuration


Lobby and hallway: Vacuum the rugs/carpets, sweep and mop the hard floor areas, dust the tables, pedestal, credenza, and other items. 


Lounge: vacuum carpet, dust, clean glass table, clean the leather sofas


Kitchen area: remove all items from surfaces, clean thoroughly (including microwave and refrigerator).


All areas: clean interior windows


*** There are LIMITED cleaning supplies in the building;

consider bringing some from home. ***

Start of Summer Office Hours — June 1



Beginning June 1, UUCR switches to summer office hours: closed Monday - Friday & open Saturday and Sunday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

National Music Festival Concerts at UUCR




The National Music Festival (NMF) will once again hold some of their mid-day concerts and rehearsals at UUCR. Please check the UUCR calendar if you plan on holding any meetings or stopping by any time between June 2 - 15 to make sure there hasn't been something already scheduled.

 

The two mid-day concerts begin at 12:30 on Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 13. There will also be rehearsals during this period, but they have not been scheduled yet.

June 19 Deadline

for Fiscal Year 24 Financial Matters

The deadline for all Fiscal Year 24 pledge & auction payments and reimbursement & payment requests is June 19th to allow time for processing prior to the end of the fiscal year,

General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.


GA will be held June 20th–23rd and is totally online this year.

Summer Solstice Potluck — June 21

The PROC Committee will host a special Summer Solstice Potluck at UUCR on Friday, June 21st, beginning at 6 p.m. Come to enjoy the fellowship and please bring a dish to share. Undoing Racism Training Sessions

— June 27 & 28

The Social Action for Racial Justice is sponsoring the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (PISAB)’s, two and a half day training.
This training will take place on June 27th from 4 - 7 p.m, June 28th, and June 29th from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. PISAB's expectation is for all attendees to commit to ALL three sessions.
This event will be held at Minary’s Dream Alliance located at 9155 American Legion Road, Chestertown, MD 21620.
Food and childcare will be available at no cost. This is a free training.
