NOV 16 | "We Are Grateful to Our Sponsors: In Gratitude to Our Ancestors," SaraRuth Wekoye Davis, Guest Speaker — In-person & Zoom
Who are our Sponsors, those who nourished us into existence? Gratitude, at its foundation, is to be thankful for life, for our part and place in this life, and to honor our Sources of Life in each moment of our existence. We will explore together, Our Sponsors, and how we might be the Sponsors worthy of the Life flowing from us, with wisdom texts, both new and old.
NOV 23 | "Grounding in Connection," Rev. Kathryn Adams, Minister — In-person & Zoom
As we enter this holiday season, I want to ground us in how we communicate. We have talked a lot about communicating across differences. During the autumn harvest season, we may have some opportunities to communicate across differences with people we love. Author Charles Duhigg helps us unlock the language of connection. May we use this language of connection in living our values and to bring joy, love, and transformation.

Calling all Soup Makers, Bread Bakers, Dessert Creators,
and Everyone Who Enjoys Soup, Bread, and Dessert!
(and libations)
Here’s UUCR’s next, most cozy, “fun”draising event: On Friday evening, December 12, we will host a “Soup Sampler Supper“ at UUCR. One of the delights of the evening is that you can enjoy a wonderful meal with us and still have plenty of time to get to the Chester River Chorale’s Holiday Concert, which starts at 7:30 pm at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, our neighbor on Gateway Drive. Come early, bring friends!
Ten different soup makers will each bring a crockpot full of their favorite/best soup, and five or more different bread makers will each bring homemade loaves. A cadre of bakers will bring in an array of desserts as well. Coffee will be on hand, along with juice, wine, water, etc. Tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at UUCR after Sunday Services on November 9, 16, 23, and 30 and December 7. Or, to reserve a ticket, contact any of our Soup Supper Team: Linda Dutton, Jane Hardy, Joy Kim, and Mary Pritchard. But don’t delay; this has become a popular event, and we have a full house every year.
We are still looking for soup chefs (bisques, chowders, and chilis are also most welcome), bread makers, and dessert makers. Yes, we need YOU! Please contact our Soup Supper Team, names above, if you’d like to contribute; our chefs and bakers need not buy tickets for the event.
Look for more details in upcoming Reflections, and be sure to mark your calendars for a grand time on Friday evening, December 12, 5:30 - 7.

From Eastern Shore Indivisible (ESI)
In Maryland’s 1st Congressional District, more than 34,000 households rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The uncertainty of the program’s funding combined with the ongoing government shutdown and the rising cost of groceries will inevitably result in many families going hungry. ESI is committed to sharing ways neighbors can assist neighbors in need. Click HERE to check out ESI’s website to learn how you can make a difference by donating and volunteering in Kent and neighboring counties.
The Maryland Food Bank will also be holding “Pop-Up Pantries” (mobile markets) in the region. To learn more about how you can help with Maryland Food Bank Mobile Markets click HERE.
