Is U.S. democracy in danger? Or are the media and nongovernmental watchdog groups exaggerating the threats to our institutions? What can ordinary citizens do to learn more about hazards confronting our constitutional governance and the personal freedoms we take for granted? Bring your ideas to our discussion.

JUL 26 | "Worthy of Connection: Shame, Trust, and a Sense of Belonging," Deb Reid, Discussion Leader — In-person ONLY

Join us for a summer discussion exploring the difference between shame and guilt, using a short video from Brené Brown as our starting point. Together, we’ll reflect on how shame can interfere with authenticity, trust, and healthy connection, and how practices such as boundaries, accountability, integrity, and generosity can help create stronger relationships and communities. This will be a reflective discussion, with no expectation that participants share personal stories.

Due to a conflict with another UUCR-related event, the Crab Feast Potluck has been moved to Saturday, July 25. Also, it has been moved to UUCR's Woodland Memorial Garden to provide more shade and to be more mobility-friendly. The event will be held indoors if it is too hot or it is raining.

Following our discussion of the Bible on Sunday, it was suggested that the title of the book that Rev. Kathryn introduced to our Bible study group be included in Reflections. The title of the book is: For Such a Time as This: An Emergency Devotional. The author is Hanna Reichel.

The town officials & residents of Betterton are trying to stop an industrial-sized, five-megawatt solar facility within the Betterton town limits.

A public hearing, with a public utility judge attending, will be held at the Betterton Fire Hall on July 20^th at 6:30 pm.

Please consider attending to support the residents of Betterton, Still Pond, and the surrounding area. We want to fill the firehall to demonstrate to the judge that the project is a poor use of the last open area within the town limits.
