The Very Human Side of Miracle-Making
This season is full of stories of miracles. Rev. DL Helfer asks, as we consider Hannukah this Sunday, that we also explore the ever-so-human efforts behind some of these “miracles."

Stillness in Movement
In this week's video, we think about finding stillness in our hearts and minds, but not necessarily sitting still in our bodies.
Lee leads us through a beautiful moon salutation, starting as a big bright full moon, and moving down to a tiny new moon seed, then back up to full. So come move and find your inner stillness.

“We’d like to re-create a space for joys and concerns. As they arise, please email Rev DL, letting him know what you’d like shared. It will be shared either in worship or coffee hour each week."

Food Drive and Cookie Exchange
To work toward remedying food insecurity locally, Rev. DL and DRE Lee Cowan will host a COVID-safe food collection to benefit the Johnnycake Center, in Wakefield. Just drive by UUCSC to drop off donations:
Sat., December 19th and Sun., December 20
Noon – 2 PM
We ask for Holiday-focused non perishables - pasta, pasta sauce, canned veggies, canned beans, gravy, dry cereal, stuffing mix, quickbreads/crusts/pie filling, cookie and brownie mixes.
And in the spirit of connecting to each other… a Cookie Exchange will happen at the same time! Bring a dozen home-baked cookies, safely packaged. You’ll be able to place that on a table and pick up a dozen made by someone else, in equal exchange. Please label clearly with name of cookie, ingredients, and baker.

About Financial Contributions to UUCSC
In addition to the traditional ways that you generously support UUCSC, you can now give online! After collaborating with a team with knowledge in the area of online giving, the Finance Committee decided to offer an online option and chose the PayPal platform for processing payments. Click the word Donate, wherever you find it on the UUCSC website to go to the online donation page. Please read and consider including the optional add-on fee to your donation. Just follow these steps:
1. Click the donate button.
2. Enter your donation amount, with or without adding the PayPal fee cover
3. Click open the OPTIONAL “Use this donation for” drop down arrow and choose your donation type - Pledge Fulfillment or a Non-Pledge Offering. If none is selected, your donation will be recorded as a Non-Pledge offering.
4. Check the box if you want this to be a monthly donation (optional).
5. Choose your payment method – PayPal or Debit/Credit Card. You do not have to have a PayPal account to use this service.
6. Complete the payment information requested.
A special note from the Finance Committee: Please continue making your Pledge payments in whatever method you are accustomed - by check mailed to UUCSC or by direct payment from your bank. These methods save PayPal fees.
The addition of PayPal is for those of you who find the method quick and easy.

Old-fashioned Apple Bread Pudding
(Just like Grandma used to make)
My grandma was a fabulous cook. From a very young age I remember watching her in the kitchen as she put together a meal or some baked treat, completely from scratch and without any recipes – she kept everything right in her head. The other day I was trying to decide what to do with a tasty (but quite stale) section of Italian bread, and I remembered the bread pudding Grandma would make, with cinnamon and apples. I found a recipe that seemed like what she had made for our family many times. I tried it, and was so pleased that I wanted to share it with all of you. A home-style treat to sweeten your holidays. Enjoy! Recipe HERE.
