Your ministerial search committee announces that we’ve found a candidate for minister! A candidate is the person who will become our next settled minister- after she visits and we vote to call her to our pulpit! We can’t tell you who she is until we finish a few more tasks for the UUA, and the minister also needs to inform her current congregation. It will be another week or so until we can reveal her name. But we do want you to know how excited we are. We feel as if we’ve won the Oscar of BEST minister for our church!

We know you will be equally excited as we introduce her to you over the next month through additional announcements. She will also provide us with information for the ministerial search section of the church website. Watch the E-News and the church Facebook page for when that will happen.

Mark your calendar now for April 29 through May 7 as our candidating week. She will meet with many groups and individuals and hold some open forums. She will preach at the Sunday Services on April 30th and on May 7th. After the May 7th service we will be conducting our annual meeting at which we will vote to make the call to our pulpit official. Be there!

We are looking for another Childcare Worker to join our team!

If you could and would like to assist in our Nursery on Sunday mornings as a childcare worker, in a paid position for once or twice a month, please contact Cindy Wakeland, if you are interested.
Thank you to all of you who donated your time and your treasure to the Men's Emergency Homeless Shelter!

We designated the Men's Emergency Homeless Shelter as the focus of our MLK Day of Service this year.  Over the course of the January through March time period, volunteers from our church helped staff the men's homeless shelter, unloaded the truck on Sundays when the shelter beds and bedding were moved between churches, and donated boxes of food items and personal hygiene and comfort items to the men. In addition, we collected funds for the shelter through our January shared offering, and sent a check for $3,548.00 to United Way in support of this community project. Way to go, UUs!

Happy Birthday to UUs. Click here (or the photo above) to see who has an April birthday.

This Sunday, April 9th, will be the last official day to purchase tickets to the Service AUUction being held on April 15th.  You may buy tickets at the door (they are more expensive), but it really helps us plan the food better if we know in advance how many to expect.  Advance prices are $10/person and $30/family ($12/$35 at the door).  If you know you will be coming but can't make it to church on Sunday, please let us know by emailing us at auction@uucuc.org and we'll give you the advanced rate when you pay at the door.

This week's featured auction item is perhaps the dictionary definition of a great service auction donation: Holiday Gift Wrapping from our own Katie Madigan: "Do you hate wrapping holiday gifts? Well, I love it!! I'll supply the paper, bows, and gift tags and you bring me your gifts. They will be returned to you beautifully wrapped in time for your holiday celebration! (Will wrap up to 20 packages)." Just imagine having your holiday stress reduced, combined with having stunning presents under your tree!

The theme this year is "CrUUising Around the World", so dust off that Hawaiian shirt and join us for the biggest church party of the year!

Peace, Love, and Humor! Folk singer/guitarist David Roth  presents family-friendly songs and stories.

David, known for his musical ability and mellow voice, is an award-winning performer (and a U of I alum). This event will be set up as a coffeehouse (includes treats!) with a warm-up act of our own performers.

$10 per-adult suggested price (80% for Roth, 20% UUCUC);  c hildren free.
Partner Church Indian Brunch

Please join us on Sunday, April 23, 2017 after worship for a scruptious Indian brunch hosted by the Partner Church Committee. During the brunch, we will conduct a fun trivia game about the culture, geography and history of India.

The questions for this week is: In what century was the Taj Mahal built? And for whom?

Stay tuned for the trivia answers revealed on April 16, 2017.
We are looking to add to our list of Building Hosts. Would you be interested in making some extra cash? Contact Rosalyn Maziarka at admin@uucuc.org, for more information.
