Help Needed! Sunday Morning Worship Team Sign-up!

We need your help.  Not a long-term commitment, just a Sunday along the way this year.  This is a congregation that relishes the many voices and passions of its people.  We are looking for people to participate on Sunday morning's by signing up to:

  • Greet Newcomers
  • Usher
  • Light the Chalice - Provide your own words or words can be provided
  • Read the Welcome - script available
  • Read Opening Words - Provide your own words or words can be provided
  • Introduce the Offering - Provide your own words or words can be provided
  • Help set up the Sanctuary prior to Service - Orientation and training provided.
This is not a lengthy commitment.  If each active member and friend of the congregation signed up for just 2 spots a year, we'd have the entire calendar covered!

LEADERS!  Have a special event or effort that you want to highlight, this is a perfect opportunity to be heard.  While providing any of the services above (sans Sanctuary set up) you can plug your special project.

ALSO, Aaron is looking for a handful of folks who would be interested and willing to be a Worship Leader on Sundays when we have a Guest Speaker.  You will receive a full script of the WA parts of the service ahead of time and will be connected personally with the Guest Speaker to work out any other details.  Training is also provided as desired.  Contact Aaron directly if you are willing to be a Worship Leader.

HERE is the link to sign up to be part of a Sunday morning Worship Team this year. Scroll to the desired date, and sign up on the element you'd like to do.  You will receive a confirmation email and a reminder email prior to your scheduled day(s).

Thanks you for all you do!!

 Touchstones For February 5 - 11
2018-2019 Touchstone Ministry Theme "Let Your Life Speak"

Parker Palmer wrote, "Before you tell your life what you intend to do with it, listen for what it intends to do with you. Before you tell your life what truths and values you have decided to live up to, let your life tell you what truths you embody, what values you represent." These themes encourage listening to your life as a way of shaping your days and guiding your journey.

This year's monthly themes, starting in September, are: vocation, formation, gratitude, peace, grace, surrender/letting go, truth, salvation/wholeness, mystery, transcendence, freedom and responsibility, and prayer.

Watch for upcoming articles in this newsletter and other weekly communications that will explore these themes in depth.

February Theme - Surrender/Letting Go

February 5: "If you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments." ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

February 6: "The condition of an enlightened mind is a surrendered heart." ~ Alan Redpath

February 7: "Surrender to what is. Say 'yes' to life-and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you." ~ Eckhart Tolle

February 8: "Completion comes not from adding another piece to ourselves, but from surrendering our ideas of perfection." ~ Mark Epstein

February 9: "The essential surrender happens within you, it has nothing to do with anybody outside you. The basic surrender is a relaxation, a trust-so don't be misguided by the word. Linguistically, surrender means to surrender to somebody, but religiously, surrender simply means trust, relaxing. It is an attitude rather than an act: you live through trust." ~ Osho

February 10: "Control is never achieved when sought after directly. It is the surprising outcome of letting go." ~ James Arthur Ray

February 11: "I've discovered there are only two modes of the heart. We can struggle, or we can surrender. Surrender is a frightening word for some people, because it might be interpreted as passivity, or timidity. Surrender means wisely accommodating ourselves to what is beyond our control." ~ Sylvia Boorstein

Rev. Aaron Payson

Ongoing Meetings

Open to anyone interested in meditation, the group meets weekly and you can attend as available. We meditate for 30 minutes and then read from a meditation book and discuss the practice and how to integrate it into our lives. Occasionally we will listen to a talk from a meditation teacher and discuss as well. If you have questions contact Wendy O'Leary.
