 Guiding Theme for October:

"Cultivating Compassion"

"Cultivating Compassion at the End of Times"

This service will launch our monthly theme of "Cultivating Compassion" and consider what it means to cultivate compassion in the Anthropocene.

How can we open our hearts to compassion and connection when the world feels so scary and uncertain? What does compassion teach us about resiliency?

No Kings Day II

Saturday, October 18, 2:00-4:00 pm. Indivisible Durango is hosting a March and Rally at Rotary Park.

Current details are a rally with speakers at Rotary Park, with overflow people asked to walk on both sides of Main Ave.

Let’s double our Durango participation as we make it loud and clear we don’t do kings!

Interfaith Declaration by People of Faith

in Support of the Lives and Rights of Immigrants

If you would like to sign on to indicate your support for immigrant rights, you can go to

www.interfaithimmigrationnetwork.org/give-1 (the Interfaith Immigration Network of

Colorado’s website) and read and sign your name. INN is hoping to get over 1000 signatures in

our state as we stand up and speak out in support of our immigrant neighbors. The statement

with signatures will be shared at a rally in Denver on October 16.

Membership Opportunities

First Sunday Meet UUFD Session

The first Meet UUFD Information session will gather on October 5 after the worship service. Get some refreshments and meet with Rev Jamie and the Membership Team in the sanctuary at 11:15 for a question and answer session about UUFD. These sessions will be held the first Sunday of each month.

The Grub Hub Winter Clothing Drive Could Use Your Help!

The Grub Hub at Fort Lewis College, which addresses basic needs for students, will be hosting a Winter Clothing Drive in early October. Many students are not prepared for the cold Fall/Winter season, so the Grub Hub has asked the Unitarian Basic Needs team to collect any winter clothing the congregation can donate to students. A labeled bin is set up in the back of the sanctuary.

Durango Food Bank Thanksgiving Drive

The Durango Food Bank is putting together Thanksgiving food boxes again this year. UUFD has volunteered to provide 200 cans of green beans (more would be great). Please bring in your donations of green beans to Sunday services through October 19. Collection boxes will be at the main door to the Sanctuary. Thank you in advance for helping the Food Bank provide Thanksgiving dinners to those in need in our community.

The Basic Needs Team

Scammers are at it again!

A reminder that Rev. Jamie and members of the UUFD staff team will never email to ask for money, gift cards, or access to the congregational directory. When in doubt, delete and let us know that you received a suspicious email. Thank you!

UUFD COVID Reporting

In order to simplify the reporting of a positive COVID test in the congregation, it will now be reported directly to the COVID Advisory Team at cat@durangouu.org.

If you have been in contact with others at a UUFD event in the last 5 days, please let us know as soon as you test positive.

Thank You.
