UUFF eNews - Week of December 2, 2020
Service this Sunday- December 6, 2020
Sunday, December 6th, 11am Zoom Service: "Chalice Stories - Our Principles in Light," led by Rev. Jim Parrish. Unitarian Universalism adopted the symbol of the lighted chalice back in WWII, as a sign of freedom. We'll recount the story, as well as others that help us reflect deeply on our Principles. Our UU Principles are our values - ideals that bring us together no matter what source(s) we come from. These Principles are not written in stone; they are part of our Covenant to be negotiated and updated as needed. Join us as we share stories and music in reflection of our UU values and meaning.

Just for fun:

UUFF Announcements, Events, and Opportunities
The New UU Class Series, "Being UU," begins THIS Sunday, December 6th, from 6:30-8pm via zoom! ALL are encouraged to attend. These classes are especially for folks new to Unitarian Universalism or UUFF, but they are open to anyone, and everyone can benefit from attending!

This first class is an exploration of personal journeys to liberal religion, and seeing how our personal beliefs line up with UU's stated Sources.

Please review the UU Principles and Sources and write or outline your spiritual/life journey up to now. What religious groups/beliefs did you grow up with? Any major changes in belief in life that led you to the realization that UU existed and that you might be interested in being UU?... a credo statement for now. Please practice sharing it so it will only be about 5-6 minutes (maybe a little more).

We'll end with a survey of our UU Sources and where we fall within.

Peace,
Rev. Jim

A Congregational Meeting for UUFF Members will be held directly after service (via zoom) on Sunday, December 13th, 2020. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend, as we will be voting on important matters and must have a quorum of members present in order for the voting to take place. Members were sent an email with more information and links to supporting documents on Friday. If you didn't receive yours or would like a hard copy sent via mail, please let Fawn know (uuff.ar@gmail.com). Thanks!
Janet Curth is one of UUFF's newer members, and we were fortunate enough to have her share her "Gratitude Moment" during our November 22nd Sunday Service.

Our Children’s Religious Exploration class for ages 5-11 is using the Soul Matters curriculum, which you can learn more about HERE. This month we’re exploring the many ways our UU faith invites us to become “A People of Healing.” Parents can find activities and discussion topics in this email, and children are invited to take part in every-other-week zoom meetups, the next of which will be THURSDAY, December 3rd, from 7 to 7:30pm. Click HERE to participate! We will have a pajama party and show and tell about our favorite stuffed animal.

This week our focus is on, “Finding Ways to Comfort Yourself.” Healing takes work, but our faith also reminds us that healing involves being gentle with ourselves. When our feelings have been hurt and we’re feeling sad and lonely, sometimes the best thing to do is comfort ourselves. One way might be comfort food. Another way might be to spend time with a beloved pet. So what’s one of the ways our faith guides us into becoming a people of healing? It tells us to “Find ways to comfort yourself!”
