UUFF eNews - Week of June 5, 2019
Service this Sunday- June 9, 2019
Sunday, 06/09/19, 11am Service: Join us for our annual PRIDE service--"How Music Shaped LGBTQ+ culture." Renée Janski will lead this rollicking time together, joined by several special guests and the choir! From "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to "Born This Way," and lots in between and since, music has shaped the movement!  Please join us to celebrate the movement and sing our faces off!!

10am Sunday Adult Religious Education (ARE):
ARE Discussion Group: Meets downstairs. Topic: "Why We March." This month marks the 50 th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, the event that sparked the Gay Rights Movement in the U.S. We’ve come a long way since then! Yet members of the LGBTQ community continue to experience prejudice and discrimination. Join us for a historical overview and a discussion of ways we can continue to support LGBTQ freedom today.

Meditation will be held at 10:00, followed by a short reading and discussion between 10:30 -
10:45. It doesnʼt matter what type of meditation you do, or if you have ever meditated before, you
are welcome to come meditate in the UUFF Annex building (across Storer from UUFF in the west-
nearest Storer-side of the annex). ALL ARE WELCOME. Enter through the front door.

10am RE for kids 5+ continues today! All are invited to meet in room 2 downstairs at 10am for Religious Exploration, before rejoining adults for the 11 o’clock service. This Sunday, we will have a special guest teacher, Lydia Nelson, sharing with us about celebrating diversity in honor of pride month.

Sunday Nursery Services available 9:45am – 12:15pm
These important (and fun!) Sunday tasks are completely reliant on YOUR willingness to volunteer. Training is available! Please sign up via the links below OR on the clipboards hanging on the lobby bulletin board.
Farewell Note from UUFF's June 2017-2019 Minister Intern, Ren Pasco

Dear UUFF,

I have loved serving as your intern minister the past two years. Thank you all so much. I have had such a chance to learn and grow in my ministry here. In August I will begin a hospital chaplain residency (kind of like an internship) in Dallas, TX. I look forward to taking the things I have learned into that position.

As per UU best practices for interns and ministers, I will be taking a separation period from UUFF. This means no Facebook, email, phone or snail mail. This is for you all, Rev. Jim, and myself. It lets Rev. Jim and you all settle back into just one minister and the change in my role and allows me to settle into my new role as a chaplain.

I wish you all the best, Ren
UUFF Announcements, Events, and Opportunities!
ATTENTION ALL! UUFF's main parking lot is off-limits to vehicles and foot-traffic until Friday, June 7th- for sealing and re-painting. If the parking lot is cordoned off when you arrive for an event or UUFF business, please park elsewhere and avoid even walking on anything that could be wet. Thanks to Jeff Barnes for his hard work in arranging all of this! *Incidentally, just as an FYI, Oakland Avenue is also being worked on and off-limits between June 4-7.*
Justice Meet-up THIS Sunday, June 9, at 12:15!
