Service this Sunday- October 18, 2020
Sunday, October 18th, 11am Zoom Service: "Can Transcendentalism Save Us Again?" Led by Rev. Jim Parrish. In the 1800's the Transcendentalist Club influenced U.S. society with Abolition of Slavery, equal rights for Women, creation of Public Education, realization of the importance of our Ecology, and many other progressive stances that are still important today. UUFF's annual Remembrance Service is NEXT Sunday, October 25th - Please send photos by October 20th.
This year, we are asking you to email to uuff.ar@gmail.com a picture of a person or pet who has died recently...or in years past, if they are on your heart...to be included in a virtual "Remembrance Alter" slideshow that we will put together and share as a part of this special service. If you do not have a photo to share, you can send names of folks/pets for us to include.

Though we are not able to gather in-person this year, we can and will still come together in fellowship to hold one other in love and unified strength as we remember and celebrate the lives of our departed loved ones.
UUFF Announcements, Events, and Opportunities
Greetings members and friends! It is that time again - UUFF's annual Stewardship Pledge Drive is about to kick off!

We are living in "interesting" times, to say the least, and your fellowship is committed to remaining a guiding light in the darkness. We need your continued commitment to make that happen! Please keep an eye out for more information (and pledge forms!) to come soon.
UUFF is inviting all who are interested in the fight against racism to participate in an ongoing discussion of the book, "White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism," by Robin DiAngelo. Discussions will be held via zoom each Monday night at 7pm, starting on October 19th.

Please contact discussion facilitator, Georgia Lance at georgialance@yahoo.com to sign up for group-specific email notices and to receive zoom link/info to join.
Youth RE (11+) is excited to start our new Soul Matters curriculum called "Crossing Paths!"

UU principles are sourced from many different faith traditions. Join us as we explore the traditions and paths of various faith practices.

The first unit of Crossing Paths will help us learn all about our own faith - UUism!

Youth RE zoom classes are scheduled for every other Wednesday, beginning at 6:30pm, with the next being TODAY, October 14th.

Families with registered youth will receive an email containing relevant materials a few days before each meeting. If you have questions, please contact Leanda Gavin.

All are welcome to participate in a morning meditation each Wednesday, starting at 7am. Start your morning off right! Info to join is below:

Our Children’s Religious Exploration class for ages 5-11 is using the Soul Matters curriculum, which you can learn more about HERE. This month we’re exploring the many ways our UU faith invites us to become “A People of Deep Listening.” Parents can find activities and discussion topics in this email, and children are invited to take part in every-other-week zoom meetups, the next of which will be Wednesday, October 21st, from 7 to 7:30pm. Click HERE to participate!

This week, our focus is on LISTENING TO THE VOICES OF THOSE WHO ARE BLACK, INDIGENOUS, AND PEOPLE OF COLOR (BIPOC). When it comes to deep listening, leaders have lifted up the importance of decentering whiteness, listening to BIPOC voices and placing those BIPOC voices at the center of our storytelling and discussions. Our faith has taken up this work and called white UU’s to be especially vigilant about the work of listening to and centering BIPOC voices. So what’s one of the ways our faith guides us into becoming a people of deep listening? It says, “White UU’s, listen to BIPOC voices and actively work to bring them into the center of our faith!”
