UUFF eNews - Week of October 23, 2024

Sunday 11am Service

Sunday, October 27th: "An Ozark Hallowed Eve." Come join us in a time of remembrance as the veil between worlds grows thin. We will share regional spooky stories, and the Choir will lead us in singing, chanting, and drumming. You are invited to bring a photo or memento of your Beloved Dead (people and/or pets) to add to our community ancestor altar during the ritual, and if you wish, please attend in your finest mourning and/or witchy garb. Stay for the potluck after the ritual!

CHOIR MEMBERS: Please gather in the Sanctuary at 10am to rehearse for the 11am service!

You can attend service in person at the fellowship building or view it remotely online via Facebook Live Stream. To attend live via Facebook, wait until 11am Central Daylight Time (CDT) and go to: https://www.facebook.com/share/bHKcReGsMgVyyagS/ and click on "Watch Live Video. A Facebook account is not required for viewing.

10am Mindful Discussions Group for Adults - Downstairs Common Area

Topic this Sunday: "The Care Economy: What is it and Why is it Important." The care economy encompasses all the paid and unpaid work that improves the well-being of people who are dependent on care. It includes:

  • Childcare
  • Eldercare
  • Health services
  • Education
  • Domestic work, such as cooking and cleaning

The availability of care and care workers is integral to maximizing workforce participation and building a healthy, resilient economy. A continuum of care for children, sick loved ones, older adults, people with disabilities and workers themselves is and always has been vital to sustain families, protect jobs, and drive economic growth. Join us as we discuss what the candidates in this year's election are proposing related to the care economy.

UUFF Events, Announcements & Opportunities

UUFF's 2025 Stewardship Pledge Drive is in full swing!

Please CLICK HERE to read the letter from Board President, Kate Kowalski!

Thanks to everyone who has already filled out and turned in a 2025 Membership/Pledge Form! Each member household must fill out, sign, and turn in a new Membership/Pledge form every year. Why every year? To put it simply, these annual forms are essential for tracking active membership (pretty darn important in a democratically-governed congregation!), updating possible volunteer interests, and helping leadership plan a realistic operating budget for the coming year to present for member approval in the annual December Congregational Meeting. We hope to get all of these back by November 17th.

There are hard copies of the 2025 Membership Form in the lobby (check out the skills/interests part on the back!), and you can also CLICK HERE to access the UUFF 2025 Membership Form online.

Thank you for doing your part to keep this beloved fellowship alive and thriving!
