UUFF eNews - Week of October 3, 2018
This Week at UUFF
Sunday, 10/07, 11am Service: “To You I Give.” Led by Rev. Jim Parrish.

10am Sunday Adult Religious Education (ARE):
ARE Discussion Group: Meets Downstairs. This week's topic: "Are We Happier As We Age?" If you are middle aged or older, what is the greatest joy that you've experienced as you've aged? All ages are welcome in our discussion.

Meditation will be held at 10:00, followed by a short reading and discussion between 10:30 -
10:45. It doesnʼt matter what type of meditation you do, or if you have ever meditated before, you
are welcome to come meditate in the UUFF Annex building (across Storer from UUFF in the west-
nearest Storer-side of the annex). ALL ARE WELCOME. Enter through the front door.

10am RE for kids 5+ continues today! Each child should be registered (talk to Stephanie Bentley if you have not already done so) and all are invited to meet in room 2 downstairs at 10am for Religious Exploration, before rejoining adults for the 11 o’clock service.

Sunday Nursery Services available 9:45 am – 12:15 pm
Note from Rev. Jim Parrish
Dear UUFF, I realized that I didn't get a note into the email last week, so to let you know I'm way up in Minneapolis, MN for a few days this week (Mon.-Wed.) at a preaching conference... "The Craft of Preaching" at Luther Seminary.

I anticipate a lot of "interpretation" and work to listen to the forms and craft of preaching, holding the theology lightly. But I am hopeful, as the presenters are skilled and known in homiletics: senior ministers, professors and deans of seminaries.

I'm checking email now and again - working remotely during breaks, and Fawn has folks to check in with if personal pastoral care is needed. I'll be back soon! Really! 'cause it is getting cold up here, and there is snow just a bit north. Snow. Way too close.

Peace,
Rev. Jim
Announcements, Events, and Opportunities!
UUFF Worship Leader Training will be offered on Saturday, October 13, from 2-4pm at the Fellowship.
All are welcome!

Training for Worship Leaders : The Chalice Team will be holding a Fall training session for those who have been and those who want to be part of a Sunday Services. There are great opportunities every week to express what being UU means to you, how you live out your faith, and where we should be heading as a Fellowship. Rev. Jim, Ren Pasco, Marty Faitak, and other members of the Chalice Team will talk about how to lead a service, create a sermon or gratitude moment, read the announcements with your own spin, select readings, poems, hymns, and meditations, and coordinate services from the sidelines. We will also share how to improve what we do and why. Please join us on Saturday, October 13, from 2:00 to 4:00, at the Fellowship.
UUFF Justice Team will have their next meeting on Sunday, October 14th, at 12:15pm in the Common Room Downstairs. All are welcome to attend. Please contact Rebecca Bryant or Elizabeth Hancock if you have any questions.
