UUFF Announcements, Events, and Opportunities

Have you ever noticed that we Unitarian Universalists tend to approach life a bit differently than most mainstream church-goers? Instead of "Let go, let God," we're more like "Let's go, It's up to us!" We are all aware that positive change doesn't come about on its own. It takes work! In that spirit, the very existence of the UU Fellowship of Fayetteville has always depended on a constantly evolving base of dedicated members and friends who donate not only treasure but also time and talent. Volunteers are the heart of this unique spiritual community. In other words, no matter your skill set, there is a place where YOU are needed! But perhaps you aren't aware of all of the opportunities available and/or you don't know how to go about "jumping in." So, starting now, each week we plan to highlight one or two ways that UUFF'ers enjoy giving of their time and talent. This week's highlight is the UUFF Grounds Team!

Pictured above from left to right: Pip, RJ, and Laura Brewer, hard at work cleaning up the slope between the parking lot and lawn during a recent Grounds Work Day (each Thursday, 9-11am).

The small but mighty UUFF Grounds Team, including "regulars" Laura Brewer (team lead), RJ, Cathy Schermer and Annette Lewis, gathers at the Fellowship for 2 hours each Thursday to maintain and improve UUFF's beautiful grounds. There is, of course, always more work to be done than folks to do it, so if the thought of spending a few hours working outside in a beautiful location with a really good group of people piques your interest, please join the Grounds Team for one of their Thursday 9-11am Work Days. Your presence is most welcome! Questions? Contact Team Lead, Laura Brewer ([email protected]).

UUFF will hold a New Member Ceremony during the 11am Service on Sunday, October 2nd! Several folks have recently decided to become official UUFF Members, so please plan to attend and help welcome them in this special service!

UUFF Justice Spotlight - Week of September 21st, 2022

Issue: Climate Change: Please plan to attend the Fall Earth Care Series to be held here at UUFF on Sundays - September 25th, October 30th, and November 20th, from 1-3pm. It’s all about the value of clean energy for the earth and all of the life it supports (including we humans!). The speakers are going to be excellent, and even if you're not currently a candidate for solar, this is a free opportunity to learn from the experts in this important issue. Stow the knowledge away for future use and be able to share informed facts with others who might be interested now! We will have refreshments and door prizes of LED light bulbs, so don’t miss this interesting series! See flyer below, and please RSVP to [email protected]

The next Justice Team meeting will be on Thursday, October 13th at 7pm.
