"When It Rains, It Pours: A UU Theology for the Storm"

Clint Tawes

With his father facing cancer and his mother living with advanced Alzheimer’s, Clint has found himself asking a deeply personal question: what does our UU faith give us when life becomes overwhelming? This sermon explores spiritual resources that can help us feel held, grounded, and less alone in the storm.

September 13

"And We Were Grateful"

Randy Blasch

What does it mean to be grateful? Is it just about saying thank you? Let's dive deep into the meanings and methods of being grateful and showing gratitude to one another and ourselves.

September 20

"Autumn Equinox, the Golden Mean & Aristotle"

Beth Butterfield

Come celebrate Mabon and the Autumn Equinox! As we pause to enjoy this moment of balance, it's a great time to consider the teachings of the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle! Aristotle claimed that the path to living a happy life is to a great extent a matter of choosing the right balance. Come hear what Aristotle had to say about ethics, virtues, happiness, character development, and regret. Dr. Beth Butterfield is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at GSU.

September 27

Dr Chris Caplinger

Dr. Caplinger is an historian of the American South and post-Civil War race relations. He has written about racial terror lynchings and co-chaired the Statesboro-Bulloch County Remembrance Coalition, which erected a marker recently at City Hall memorializing the victims of local lynchings. He will speak about the challenging but deeply meaningful work of community memorialization.
