Hello, Upper Valley!
At JAM's space in downtown WRJ, we frequently hear people remark on how "artsy" the neighborhood is. I'd like to insist that this holds true for our entire region now. It's incredibly rare and special to live in such an arts-rich region that is simultaneously rural yet accessible.
So this week we'd like to highlight local arts – both JAM's archival recordings and upcoming opportunities. From JAM's own comic and zine fair, to gospel music at Dartmouth, to local artists welcoming visitors into their studios, we hope you'll be inspired to enjoy the creative harvest of the Upper Valley this week.
– Ana (Communications Coordinator)
JAM is proud to participate in the Upper Valley Arts Alliance's UV Arts for All, a coordinated effort to bring free and low-cost arts programs to all in our community.

An Upper Valley “twist” on comic-cons. For 5 years, JAM has hosted TWIST (the Twin State Comic & Zine Fair), a festival where 35 local cartoonists show and sell their artwork to 300+ visitors. While shows in major cities can charge up to $400 per table, we are proud that our unique rural festival has remained free to table at and attend. TWIST’s accessible approach is made possible due to overwhelming support from organizational and community partnerships.
TWIST will return this Friday, Oct 2 from 4-8PM! Get excited and relive the vibes of TWIST 2024 with this mini-documentary created by JAM Senior Producer Chico Eastridge, interviewing artists and attendees alike.
| | | | A window into the artistic process. Watch our coverage of the 2025 Vermont Fall Studio event, where five Norwich artists opened their studios to visitors. Although artmaking can appear to be a solitary practice, artists and craftspeople create the unique visual language of our region and revitalize our communities. Look out for the 2026 Open Studios here! 10/4/25 Produced by Rick Russell for JAM. | | | | Poetry in your neighborhood. Listen to the latest Lampshade Poets, a bimonthly open mic where poets gather to read aloud original work. In this edition, the hosts share a bit about the history of the group: their previous locations included local restaurants and bars, the Lampscapes shop, and finally, JAM. 9/10/26 Produced by Phil Noble and Jan Abbott for JAM. | | | | |
