Do you own forest land or woodlands in Vermont?
Your Woods, Your Voice: Vermont Landowner Survey
We’re gathering input from Vermont landowners to better understand what matters most to you.
We'd like to know what support, information, or resources you’d find helpful on topics related to your forest. Whether you actively manage your land already, or just enjoy having woods around you, we’d love to hear from you.

If you complete the survey, you’ll also be entered into a drawing for a chance to win one of the following prizes:

Reforestation Survey for Producers and Planners
Help strengthen reforestation efforts along the Appalachian Range by completing one of two short surveys on tree seed and seedling supply. Led by Ecological Health Network with New Leaf Climate and The Nature Conservancy, this project aims to identify gaps and opportunities in regional supply.

Spring Ephemerals, Perennials and Resilient Forestry
Tuesday May 5 | Jericho, VT |1- 4 PM
Hosted by UVM Jericho Research Forest to learn about forest management, ecological diversity, agroforestry, and climate. Learn about the history and management goals of Jericho Research Forest, then walk to several sites to observe native ephemerals, indicator species, and signs of ginseng germination from the 2026 planting. This hands‑on workshop highlights how intentional forest management and forest farming can support ecological resilience and climate adaptation in Vermont.

This event is co-hosted by Northern Woodlands and Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife.

Resilient Sugarbush Management Level-1
Vermont' maple tradition is strong. But today’s sugarbush managers face new challenges including warmer winters, intense storms, shifting sap runs, and increasing tree stress. This new online, self-paced training will help participants protect their woods and produce high-quality syrup for the long haul.
Take Level 1 and build a strong foundation. In this course, you’ll learn about:

Maple tree biology — how sugar maples grow, store energy, and move sap from roots to crown

The science of sap flow and tapping — freeze–thaw cycles, tree physiology, and modern tapping guidelines that protect long-term tree health

Tree stress and health — insects, fungi, diseases, soil conditions, and weather impacts

Climate realities in the Northeast — what the data shows, what projections suggest, and what it means for your sap yield

Industry trends and technology — how practices have evolved over the past 50 years and what’s shaping the future

Tree to Cutting Board Workshop
Sunday May 3 | Peacham, VT | 9:30-2:30 PM
Hosted by Vermont Woodlands Association join to learn about both sustainable timber production and milling. The first half of the program is a walk in the woods discussing how timber production can enhance biodiversity, structural diversity, and forest health. The second half of the program with a provided lunch is by a small portable sawmill to learn how logs are milled into boards.

Mast Tree Release at Yaledale Tree Farm
Saturday May 9 | 913 Bridge Street. Derby, VT | 10-12 PM
Hosted by Vermont Coverts Cooperator Allen Yale and Orleans County Forester Jared Nunery as they demonstrate the silvicultural practice of releasing hard mast species such as red oaks to promote food resources for wildlife. Other topics discussed will be habitat management promoting early forest, and management strategies to assist forest adaptation to the rapidly changing climate.
