Building Access and your UwinCARD

Returning to campus in January? Students and sessional faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the remaining time prior to the holiday break to ensure your UwinCARD is ready to grant building access. Here's how to check:

If you received a UwinCARD in the past 5 years, it will likely have a prox-chip. These cards feature a 5-digit number on the back of the card (located near an edge) that is used to program the cards to allow for building access.

Faculty, staff and student employees who require building access must contact Key Control through an online form. It is important to include the 5-digit number from the back of your staff card in the “Request Notes” section.

If your UwinCARD does not have a 5-digit number, you will need to replace your card. The card can be requested online by uploading your photo.

Vaccination Policy Update:

New Students / New Employees

Students who are new to the University of Windsor and whose first day of classes are commencing in the Winter 2022 term are required to complete their COVID-19 vaccination status attestation within 20 days from the first day of classes of the Winter 2022 term.

Please note: previously registered students who are attending campus for the first time are not considered new. Students who were registered for the Fall 2021 semester were required to complete their attestation and, where applicable, upload their proof of vaccination, by October 7, 2021.

All new employees are required to complete their attestation of their COVID-19 vaccination status within 20 days from their first day of employment.

Exemption requests by new employees and students must be received within 15 days of the start of their employment or their first day of classes, as applicable.

Winter 2022 Registration Information

November 23

Validation (Shopping Cart) opens in UWinsite Student for the Winter 2022 semester.

November 25

Registration for Winter 2022 semester opens for all students.

Registration in courses involving face-to-face components is restricted to students who have attested to their vaccination status at uwindsor.ca/vaccine AND have either a) uploaded their proof of full vaccination, or b) have received an exemption to the University of Windsor Vaccination Policy. Students who fail to meet these requirements will be de-registered from these courses.

In addition, masks are required to be worn in all campus buildings and classrooms. For the Winter 2022 semester, some courses may only be available in-person. If you are unable to wear a mask, please ensure you choose online or hy-flex (synchronous online / livestream online) sections of courses and labs, where available.
