Welcome to the Top Ten Campus Community Updates: a digest of key stories, initiatives, and updates on behalf of the University of Windsor's Executive Leadership Team. This newsletter will be shared with the campus community regularly to help keep you up to date with the latest decisions from the Board of Governors, Senate, University administration and other topics of interest. New Memorandums of Understanding Advance Mission

Strategic partnerships were solidified this spring when representatives from the University of Windsor signed MOUs with the Municipality of Lakeshore, the Town of Kingsville, and WE-Spark Health Institute. The municipal partnerships are designed to spark innovation, drive community-focused research, and open doors for students to gain hands-on experience, while the WE-Spark partnership renews commitment to health research in Windsor-Essex.

Spring Convocation Celebrates 4,500 Graduates

From June 3 to 6, approximately 4,500 graduates crossed the stage at the Toldo Lancer Centre as part of the University of Windsor's 123rd Convocation. The ceremonies also recognized three honorary degree recipients, three winners of the Alumni Award for Distinguished Contributions to University Teaching, and several student awardees.

New Chancellor Installed

Dwight Duncan, a celebrated leader and proud UWindsor alumnus, was officially installed as the University of Windsor’s ninth Chancellor on June 3 as part of the University's 123rd Convocation. Chancellor Duncan takes over from Mary Jo Haddad, CM who served as Chancellor since 2019. He brings a passion for public service and will serve as a source of inspiration to students.

Remembering Chancellor Emeritus Ed Lumley

Chancellor Emeritus Ed Lumley, who passed away in April at age 85, is remembered for his transformative impact on the University of Windsor. His visionary leadership, generosity, and mentorship helped shape the institution we are today. In honour of his legacy, donations are being accepted to the Ed Lumley Bursary to support future generations of students.

2025/26 Budget Approved by Board of Governors

The University of Windsor Board of Governors has approved the 2025/26 operating budget. The budget reflects the financial realities of the higher education sector while reinforcing the University’s commitment to sustainability, accountability, and academic excellence.

Academic Leadership Appointments Announced

New appointments on campus will see a shift in academic leadership. Cheryl Collier was appointed Interim Provost and Vice-President Academic in March, while Brent Lee became Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in April, and Josianne Marsan will begin her term as Dean of the Odette School of Business on July 1.

Faculty of Nursing Earns Top Accreditation, Launches RN Prescribing Program

The Faculty of Nursing has been granted the maximum seven-year accreditation by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) — the highest possible term awarded — for its collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), honours, and RPN pathway to BScN programs. In addition, the Faculty now offers Ontario’s first undergraduate RN prescribing program, expanding student skills and advancing healthcare delivery.

Sunset House Opens as Hub for University Retirees

The Sunset House, an intellectual and cultural gathering space for retired faculty and staff, celebrated its grand opening in April. Located at 360 Sunset Avenue, the space features meeting rooms, workspaces, and a lounge area — all designed with accessibility in mind. Initial activities have included book clubs and social gatherings, with more events planned to foster engagement in the months ahead.

Webpage Provides Updates on Collective Bargaining

The Labour News webpage will provide the University of Windsor campus community with timely updates on the status of ongoing collective bargaining and related information. Campus community members are encouraged to visit the webpage regularly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Campus Feedback Sought on Policies

The University of Windsor is inviting feedback on two institutional policies currently under review: the Freedom of Expression Policy and the Human Rights Policy. These routine reviews help to ensure the policies continue to reflect the needs of the University’s diverse campus community.
