Campus Operations Remain Suspended Due to Silverado Fire

The campus has extended the suspension of operations through October 27 due to unhealthy air conditions resulting from the Silverado Fire. The following units are closed for on-site service: 

UCI Environmental Health & Safety will continue to monitor the air quality on campus and will coordinate with UCI’s Emergency Management to notify groups who may be affected by the air quality.

Uhills Community Center Opens for Voting on Friday, Oct. 30

The Uhills Community Center is welcomes in-person voting and ballot drop off October 30-November 3. Voting center hours are 8am to 8pm; November 3 Election Day hours: 7am-8pm

  • Voters can track the status of their ballot through OC Ballot Express at ocvote.com/track
  • Vote Centers will be equipped with disposable face coverings, gloves, hand sanitizer, and other supplies to promote health and safety.
  • The Registrar of Voters is hiring 1,500+ Vote Center Customer Service Representatives for the November 3, 2020 Presidential Election. For more information and to apply, visit ocvote.com/jobs
How to Have a Fun (And Safe) Halloween From UCI Health

The key to enjoying Halloween this year is to accept that it won't be the same as a traditional year, but that it can still be fun! UCI Health's article, COVID-19 Doesn't Have to Spoil Halloween, includes tips on how to celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos while maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols. It also provides safe trick or treating guidelines. And, if you're opting to stay at home, it gives some creative ideas for celebrating-in-place. Have fun and stay safe!
OC Health Care Agency Invites Students to Submit Art, Writing or Video Encouraging Mask Wearing

The “Mask Message Contest” is designed to help elementary, middle and high school students stay engaged with an independent learning project, while also becoming better informed about the importance of non-medical means to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Click here for entry form and contest rules. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, November 19. 
Flu Vaccine Deadline for UCI Employees Is October 31

Faculty (and other academic appointees) and staff working at any UC location are required by the university to have a flu vaccine. The university has compiled a list of frequently asked questions about the vaccine mandate. According to the FAQs, university employees should obtain the vaccine from a local pharmacy or their health care provider.
