A personal recommendation from show jumping Olympic gold medalist McLain Ward, earned Katie a spot in the George Morris Horsemastership Program at the U.S. Equestrian Team (USET) headquarters in Gladstone, NJ, last spring. That opportunity opened the doors for Katie internationally, and she was invited to train with German Olympian Marcus Ehning at his facility in Germany, after which she returned to the U.S. to compete at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington in early 2014. Katie's immediate goals are to compete in the Young Rider Grand Prix series as well as Nations Cup competitions, and ultimately she would like to represent the U.S. at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
"Katie is a very dedicated, and talented rider with a strong work ethic," said Brian Collins, UltrOZ Division Manager. "UltrOZ is thrilled to sponsor Katie as she launches the next phase of her career as a professional show jumping rider."
As a junior, Katie transformed former racehorses into winning Equitation horses, and in her last year as an Amateur, she earned top ribbons at all major New England Equitation Finals, as well as the Adult Jumper Championships. In 2012 Katie was selected for the Emerging Athletes Program National Finals where she finished 3rd out of 250 selected young riders from across the nation. She rode as the anchor for the Nations Cup-style competition, and jumped double-clear to secure Team Silver.
Katie started riding as a child in South Dartmouth, MA, at the historic Quansett Farm, which overlooked Cuttyhunk Island, the outermost of the Elizabeth Islands in Massachusetts. Katie spent many summers with her family on the island, which has now become the namesake of her business, Cuttyhunk Farm, where she runs her equestrian sales, training, and coaching business. Katie is based in New England from April to November for the spring, summer, and fall show seasons, and then travels south to Wellington, FL, the hub of international competition during the winter.
Katie also focused on her academics, graduating early from Connecticut College with a double major in Government & Environmental Studies, and she was inducted as a scholar to both the Henry David Thoreau Foundation, and the Goodwin-Neiring Center for the Environment. In addition, she was Captain of the Connecticut College Intercollegiate Equestrian Team, and was twice named EQUUS Foundation Academic Scholar.

"I am very excited to be working with, and sponsored by a terrific company like ZetrOZ!" said Katie. "Not only do they understand horses, but they understand riders, grooms, and the need for a product to be effective and efficient. I use the UltrOZ Elite, and have already seen great results on my own horses. I love how quick and easy it is to apply, combined with the ability to walk away knowing that the horse is safe with such a powerful unit. It has been a privilege getting to know the ZetrOZ team members and their product. I'm thrilled to have their support as I launch the next phase of my career."

UltrOZ Elite is a wearable ultrasonic therapy system for the treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions in horses. By changing the way ultrasound is delivered, UltrOZ has eliminated the risk of thermal damage and created a safe and easy way for horse owners and trainers to treat mild injuries and inflammation, plus injuries that require months of rehabilitation.
UltrOZ Elite is used extensively on the elite horse show circuit, and racetracks to help keep equine athletes at the top of their game. World-class riders such as Olympic veterans McLain Ward, Margie Engle, and Steffen Peters are among those whose horses have benefited from UltrOZ Elite.
Equine veterinarians from referral clinics such as Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, and Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital are recommending this treatment, in conjunction with other conventional therapies, for tendon and ligament injuries, splints, fractures, osteoarthritis and multiple other ailments.
Representing the first major advancement in therapeutic ultrasound in more than 30 years, UltrOZ uses innovative ultrasound miniaturization technology to generate Low Intensity Therapeutic Ultrasound (LITUS) over a long duration. Ultrasound therapy has been used by doctors and veterinarians for over 50 years. UltrOZ represents the next generation in safe and convenient ultrasound therapy which allows owners and riders to take a clinical therapy out of the doctor's office and right into the barn.
