Midline Scar Labeled
Rectus with Linea Alba
Lateral Abdominal Wall-Relaxed
Saturday, January 23, 2021
Webinar Summary:
The abdominal wall is essential for normal lumbopelvic function through multiple mechanisms to include the transfer of force through the production of fascial tension during functional tasks. Loss of normal function is associated with conditions such as low back pain, postpartum pelvic girdle pain, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. Rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI), is the gold standard for objective evaluation of structure, function, and motor control training of the abdominal wall and associated fascial structures.

This half-day advanced-level specialty webinar will provide instruction on:

-Current evidence for ultrasound imaging of the anterior and lateral abdominal wall within an orthopedic and pelvic health physical therapy practice.

-Image generation of the abdominal musculature and associated fascial structures for anterior and lateral abdominal wall.

-Ultrasound interpretation of tissue morphology related to the anterior and lateral abdominal wall and associated fascial structures to include measurement and interpretation of inner-rectus distance.

-Clinically relevant morphometry of the abdominal wall musculature and associated fascial structures to include measurement of muscle thickness in response to motor control.

-Motor training of the anterior and lateral abdominal wall with emphasis on applications for lumbopelvic dysfunction, urinary incontinence, and diastasis rectus abdominis.

Following each lecture, there will be a live demonstration with multiple subjects showing anterior and lateral abdominal wall imaging and motor retraining for a variety of orthopedic and pelvic health applications. Participants will be able to ask questions during the demonstration and interact remotely with the subjects.
