Friends of the Farm-
After heavy rains last week and the start of this week, our fields have once again been refreshed by the welcomed seasonal precipitation. Our beds are popping with such rich shades of green! A span of dry days ahead will allow the soil to soak up nutrients and keep mold or disease pressures for particular crops at bay. A nice warm weekend ahead means success for recent transplants and accelerating our next successions. Our greenhouse is overflowing with fresh trays of future crops. It's been a very big week of seeding by our team to prepare for winter crops and spring starts. We love the continuation of farming in the California winter and look forward to delivering year-round vegetable pleasures to you and local restaurants.
One of our favorite Autumnal meals is the joy that lies in a proper roast chicken! Simple and satisfying, an oven-roast chicken not only fills the house with all of the savory smells, but provides a hearty meal for the family and leftovers for days afterward. Personally, a roast chicken, veggies, and a bottle of Beaujolais at cellar temperature is one of the greatest pleasures to come out of our kitchen. Feel free to play around with your mix of savory herbs and roasted veggies to compliment. There's no rules and simplicity tends to always rule the dish.
