Friends of the Farm-
The cooler weather has stuck around this past week and we're even seeing our first chance of early fall rains in the forecast in the week ahead! Summer is not yet forgotten as Fall Equinox is ushered in this coming Wednesday, 9/22. Brassicas, leeks, onions, winter squash, collard greens, melons, and more are already off to work in the field and anxious to show their fall flavors. Stay tuned! We are a year-round farm and excited to celebrate the upcoming change of weather and seasonal eating.
In this week's recipe we return to cocktails! After a busy week of planting, weeding, and prepping for our farm's first event with our dinner this Saturday night, 9/18 Farmers Tom & William are ready for a late-summer refresher. Enter our own creation, the Holy Prickler which highlights Prickly Pear, in combination with Holy Basil, and tequila. Remember, your favorite farmer scaled a cactus for this one, so enjoy it to the last drop!
Save the date! : Saturday, October 23 - Umbel Roots Farm Dinner

Don't forget to tune into this week's edition of our CSA music playlist. Link to our Spotify playlist is attached below to join the groove. This week we take a slight reprieve from the disco and funk heavy jams that got us through the dog days of summer and we bring it back to roots with folk, bluegrass, Americana, and Southern Rock. Sometimes you have to slow it down, just to speed it back up, as they say...
I Am California (John Craigie) and Here in California (Kate Wolf) are great reminders of our beautiful home across the seasons, and the best of the West. Y'all Come by favorites Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch serves as a nice send-off knowing that we will welcome many of you to the farm this Saturday night for our first open house & dinner. If you've missed this one, y'all come to the next one, October 23!!
Reminder that available as additions to any week CSA are the following current add-ons:
+ Umbel Roots fresh chicken eggs - $8 /doz
