Friends of the Farm-

WHAT'S UP WITH THE BAG OF DIRT IN MY CSA THIS WEEK?!?! you may find yourself asking...
Enter a fun bonus this week, and the first time we have included a non-edible component to our CSA - Dahlia Bulbs!

To plant, simply prepare a hole 6-8 inches deep. Set the Dahlia bulb or "tuber" as their referred to into the hole with its "eye", or narrow pointed end facing upwards to the sky. Cover with 2-3 inches of soil, water in, and wait for your flowers! From our farm to your flower garden!!

We jump into the baking realm for this week's featured recipe with Meyer Lemon & Rosemary Shortbread Cookies. A nice treat leans on the great harmony of lemon zest & fresh rosemary. Guaranteed to bring great smells to your home kitchen.

A reminder that next week, Friday January 28th is our last week in our current 10-week quarter of Umbel Roots CSA. We thank you for your participation in this Winter Season and sincerely appreciate your support of our growing farm. Look out for communication to land in your inbox in the week ahead announcing our next Spring Season. We'd love to have you continue without interruption to local farm-supported produce.

Don't forget to tune into this week's edition of our CSA music playlist. Link to our Spotify playlist is attached below to join...
Funk, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Instrumental, and a collection of International influenced sounds all come to a head with this week's playlist. If there are any not to miss this week it's the fuzzy psych-funk of Wah Wah Watson and Goo Goo Wah Wah, Sun Ra's, Door of the Cosmos, and Rick James' Love Gun. These three alone are a dance party in their own respect. Best paired with a batch of freshly baked shortbread cookies, is Dusty Springfield's Crumbs off the Table. Waylon Jennings / Willie Nelson, Louvin Brothers, Billy Joe Shaver, and George Jones bring balance and return us back to our farm roots too. Enjoy!

This and other past newsletters from this CSA quarter can now be found via our website at UmbelRoots.com. In the case of wanting to revisit a recipe, produce guide, or past playlist they are all collected here under the Newsletter Archive tab. We will continue to update each week.

All our best from the farm,
Tom & William
