Friends of the Farm-

Citrus and winter shades of greens are the theme with this week's CSA produce box. Our first succession of Brussels Sprouts are a welcome treat along with this week's edition of our proprietary greens mix. Representing a "farm field blend" if you will, this is a mix of more than six delicate greens. Lastly, it's only fitting that for the last week of January we feature a new baby cabbage called - January Cabbage. Just in time!

It's happy hour time with Mandarin Pomelo Paloma cocktails featured as this week's recipe! This is our take on a classic recipe that leans heavily on fresh squeezed citrus in place of traditional grapefruit or use of grapefruit sodas. In doing so Pomelos take center stage and the cocktail is instead sweetened with the compliments of the Mandarin juice and some Agave Nectar or simple syrup.

This week's delivery is our last in our current 10-week Winter quarter of Umbel Roots CSA. We thank you for your participation in this Winter Season and sincerely appreciate your support of our growing farm.
It doesn't have to end! Sent this week was an email invitation to join our upcoming Spring season. Umbel Roots CSA - SPRING quarter will run 10-weeks, starting February 11th through April 29. We will continue our reach out in the next weeks to confirm participation in this next season. We'd love to have you continue without interruption to local farm-supported produce. You can reply to this email or email farmer Tom here to confirm Spring season CSA with Umbel Roots. Thanks!

Don't forget to tune into this week's edition of our CSA music playlist. Link to our Spotify playlist is attached below to join...
This week's edition is a fun one that touches all genres and sides of the globe! Saharan guitar, Brazilian, Reggae, Thai instrumental, West African blues, Japanese pop, British hip-hop, American bluegrass, funk, classic rock, folk, and more. At 31 songs, there's a lot of fun music to discover packed into this 2 hour playlist. Great for happy hour and cooking dinner with your Mandarin Pomelo Paloma in hand and Umbel Roots CSA veggies on the stove. It's hard to pick favorites, but if there are any tracks not to miss the Stanley Brother's Still Trying to Get to Little Rock, this version of Toots & the Maytals Funky Kingston (ft. Bootsy Collins), and The Collins Kids The Lonesome Road are great places to start.

This and other past newsletters from this CSA quarter can now be found via our website at UmbelRoots.com. In the case of wanting to revisit a recipe, produce guide, or past playlist they are all collected here under the Newsletter Archive tab. We will continue to update each week.

All our best from the farm,
Tom & William
