Lots of great news to share in this week's newsletter! We've been busy!!

Jumping first into your CSA produce boxes this week...welcome CHICKEN! That's right, we're proud to present our very own farm-raised chickens. This week is unique in that it can serve as a full meal in a box with roasting vegetables, savory herbs, sauce, and salad components.

A proper roast chicken was always a year-round staple of Tom's mom & grandmother's Sunday cooking. There's nothing quite like the smell of a roast chicken in the oven with savory herbs and roasting veggies. Add a bottle of chilled Beaujolais and a side salad and you're off to the races! Enjoy the simple pleasures of a roast chicken dinner and slowing down to savor the food and company surrounding you this weekend.

In the spirit of chicken, we're happy to be the "official vegetable sponsor" of a fried chicken battle brewing this Sunday afternoon in Napa....

Go visit our homies at Bay Grape as they host what they are billing The Great Fried Chicken Coupe. Its team Buttermilk versus Karaage and Umbel Roots veggies to pair. Sip some Champagne and enjoy their outdoor patio with a plate of chicken and some sunshine. Tickets & info can be found here.

Return of our signature Farm Dinners! Mark your calendars for Saturday April 23rd as we welcome you to dinner and open house of our new Petaluma farm, Live Oak Farm! See below for flyer with details. This is our first announcement to CSA members and newsletter subscribers. Reserve your tickets now, before we go live to the general public next week. Seats are limited and will sell out.

Where to begin?!? There's a touch of everything in this week's mix....

Perhaps one highlight starts with Billy Joel's, It's Still Rock and Roll to Me. Quintessential 80's saxophone solo. It's gruff, it swings, it totally hits the spot. Baritone and tenor sax pop-up again in Fleetwood Mac's, What A Shame and more sultry saxophone and horns bring it home with the smooth rhythms of John Handy's Hard Work. Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio returns this week with a fitting track titled Fried Soul. With thirty selected tracks and two hours of music you've got plenty to dance to while your chicken is roasting...Enjoy!

New partnership in Solano County! You can now find Umbel Roots Farm eggs, herbal tea, and Live Oak Farm preserves at Soul Food Farm stand located at 6046 Pleasants Valley Rd. Vacaville, CA. Farmer and curator Alexis runs a beautiful farm shop on top of growing cut flowers, lavender, and growing olives for olive oil production. Our goods are in good company with more than a dozen fellow local farms and makers in the area contributing. We encourage you to shop and support this fellow local agricultural business in our backyard. This is opening weekend for the new season of the farmstand. See below for hours.
