Understanding Perspective:
A Follow-Up to Last Month's Blog

Each month, many of you share your opinions and perspectives about our newsletters' topics. We love hearing from you. Your participation fuels discussion and contributes to our continuing-education programs.
 
The intent of the monthly newsletter is to summarize upcoming CE events and briefly highlight a relevant topic in the architecture world. 
 
After last month’s article about wood, I heard from three readers that the blog’s message lacked concern about deforestation and preserving old-growth trees. This was certainly not my intention. Since then, I’ve thought a lot about how my personal perspective on wood impacted the article. I also reflected on my responsibility as a writer and how to approach future topics.
 
I’m an outdoor enthusiast. I’m in a forest every week, and I know how beneficial trees can be to one’s health. The Japanese call it forest bathing or Shinrin-yok. (Read more about forest bathing HERE.) I’m the daughter of a state-park ranger, and forest protection has been my mindset since I was a child.
