Your Path To Wellness Begins Here
Greetings!

In response to what seems likes a never-ending barrage of stressful events over the past few years, we wanted to dedicate this issue to the topic of STRESS as well as introduce you to our newest team member; mind-body practitioner, Dr. Dayanara Thompson DC.

There has been a new awakening in the understanding of stress and how it impacts our health. We highly recommend our patients watch the documentary film STRESSED: A new exploration into emotional stress and its undeniable impact on human health. Doctors in this documentary support the effectiveness of NeuroEmotional Technique (NET).

Emotional stress used to be seen only as a component of the mind, now we know it is a physical response residing in the body.
At its core, stress is essential to our survival. When faced with danger, whether real or perceived, we experience a built-in fight or flight response. Different structures of the central nervous system and peripheral tissues such as the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands, help mediate the stress response.

Once an acute threat has passed, the body returns to normal. However, when the body is exposed to long-term, chronic stress, negative health effects can occur as a result. Think of it like a stuck gas pedal that constantly revs the engine in your car, flooding it with a steady stream of gas (cortisol). Over time, this can lead to severe adrenal exhaustion. Conditions related to chronic stress include cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, diabetes, gastrointestinal problems, obesity, skin rashes, asthma, arthritis, and depression.

In the popular Netflix documentary HEAL, Director Kelly Noonan Gores' states, "our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions have a huge impact on our health and ability to heal. The latest science reveals that we are not victims of unchangeable genes, nor should we buy into a scary prognosis. The fact is we have more control over our health and life than we have been taught to believe" (2019). This film will empower you with a new understanding of the miraculous nature of the human body and the extraordinary healer within us all.

We recommend everyone watch these empowering documentaries. They speak to the innate healing capabilities of the body and alternative healing modalities, like Chiropractic and Acupuncture, that are geared toward removing interference(like chronic stress) and restoring the natural flow of the healing energy within.

If you have pain, if you have stress accumulating in your body that you are ignoring or a loved one is complaining of pain and grabbing too often for the bottle of pills, please call our office and make an appointment to HEAL.

Introducing
Dr. Dayanara Thompson
InnerMovement's newest Mind-body Practitioner
Dr. Dayanara Thompson’s interest in Holistic Wellness grew during her college years when she was studying physiology at California State University, East Bay. Her desire to help others was reflected in her work as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for the City of Oakland, CA. During the end of her sophomore year, she was involved in a life-altering accident that affected the use of her left leg. While struggling to heal from the devastating accident, she realized her recovery would require a holistic approach if she wanted to regain the use of her leg. After a long period of chiropractic care, spinal rehabilitation, Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) therapy to address the emotional trauma associated with this event; she fully recovered. This experience fueled her passion to become a chiropractor to assist others like herself who have endured life-changing challenges by using the very same techniques she used to achieve physical, spiritual, and emotional wellness via holistic care.

Inspired by her transformative experience; Dr. Thompson
"While struggling to heal from the devastating accident, she realized her recovery would require a holistic approach . . ."
completed a Chiropractic Doctoral Degree at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward. During this time the core understanding of how the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected inspired her to formulate her own wellness brand. Her products are natural remedies focusing on common problems she saw daily in the clinic including ADHD, insomnia, low energy, and stress. Dr. Thompson's philosophy about the path to achieving and creating the life you want live by empowering the mind is reflected in her patient care. Her philosophy regarding wellness is based largely on the importance of honoring one’s emotions. She believes emotions are to be fully experienced and are meant to serve us but must not remain stuck within our physical body. Therefore, she incorporates NET as part of her non-force chiropractic care.

We are very excited to have her join the InnerMovement Wellness team to help our patients thrive.

NeuroEmotional Technique (N.E.T.)
We now know the effects of accumulated stress and emotional pain can have widespread implications on the physical body. People used to think stress resides only in the mind. Now, we know stress can be locked in the body leading to low back pain, nausea, headaches and more. NET is a simple technique that allows doctors to effectively address this overlooked area of health. Dr Thompson combines N.E.T. with Reiki and Chakra balancing techniques to create a profound emotional release session. Book a 30minute NET session with Dr Thompson. Rel sessions to be deeply healing. A True InnerMovement.

Simple technique/Profound results
Acupuncture & Stress
Acupuncture is highly effective for many conditions, especially stress, anxiety and depression. Acupuncture doesn't hurt. When the hairlike needle is inserted a sensation similar to a mosquito bite is felt. Once the Acupuncture point is activated you feel a pleasant sensation as movement of energy in the meridian is activated. This movement results in shifting from sympathetic (fight/flight) to parasympathetic (relaxation) nervous system activation decreasing pain & downregulating stress physiology.
Massage & Stress
Customized, doctor prescribed, therapeutic Massage is an integral part of our Wellness approach. The power of healing touch by a compassionate practitioner is proven to be essential to health. Studies show without healing touch infants fail to thrive, the need for healing touch continues into adulthood. Our therapists have been named the 'best in town' by many of our clients. We offer Wellness, Deep tissue, Bamboo Fusion, Cold Stone Therapy, Myofascial and Prenatal Massage.

The highest compliment is when you send your friends & family!
