Volunteers in Partnership News

All parents are included and you are automatically a member! We work together as volunteers to support our school community.
Meet Denae Linnartz, Volunteers in Partnership Secretary
My family and I moved from Florida to Austin in 2014, and then to Round Rock in 2016. That year, both of my daughters (then in second and sixth grade) received the news that their names were drawn in the lottery to attend Meridian! Since they attended an IB magnet school in Florida, it was a seamless transition for them both.

As for me, this is my third year on the VIP Leadership team. I have served as Middle and High School Representative, and this year I hold the position of Secretary.

I was asked why I spend so much of my time volunteering by a friend recently. First and foremost, I volunteer because I enjoy it. Perhaps more importantly, I believe that we, as parents, lead by example. My hope is that my children one day follow in my footsteps by volunteering their time and talents.

Putting in time by volunteering at Meridian not only improves our school, but it is also a great way to make friends and get plugged in!

For more information about volunteer opportunities, please continue to read the VIP newsletter and Meridian’s Facebook parent groups.
Thank You Volunteers!
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time so far this year. We have officially reached 100 logged hours! It is wonderful to see our community staying involved in various ways: helping our students stay safe during car line, keeping our playground sanitized, distributing various supplies and items to our families, taking care of our school chickens, hosting zoom socials for our students, etc. Please continue to show your support of our school by checking out the volunteer opportunities below and logging your hours!

Supporting Our Staff
Events organized by Volunteers in Partnership allow us to raise funds that are in turn used to fund grant proposals from our teachers each semester. Every teacher at Meridian has the opportunity to submit one ... or five! This semester, Volunteers in Partnership was able to award $3,992 to 6 teachers for their special projects. Below are the grants that have been awarded for Fall 2020:

$1000 - C-Pen Readers
$1000 - GimKit Subscriptions
$875 - Porcelain Dry Erase Magnetic Boards
$400 - Taxidermy Insects
$388 - Pocket Lab-Air and Temperature Probe
$347 - Scroll Saw
Looking for a way to say THANK YOU? We are still looking for parents who are willing to Adopt A Staff Member to show them how much we appreciate them. It can be a quick note, a small gift, or whatever you choose. Sign up today and let's get everyone "adopted"!

We are also looking for coffee donations to help refresh the staff workrooms and keep them energized during the school day. Sign up HERE to donate. Donations can be dropped off starting Monday, October 19 at any of the 3 campus lobbies.
Fall Picture Day is Tuesday, October 20
Lifetouch Photography will be here Tuesday, October 20 (the Tuesday immediately after Fall Break) to take yearbook photos of students in 2nd -11th grades who are learning on campus. We will also take photos of Kindergarteners, 1st graders, 2nd graders, and 6th graders who were not present on the previous picture day. Students should wear their regular school uniform. Parents may pre-order packages online using the instructions below, or order pictures at a later date after they receive a picture proof.
Students who are in Distance Learning in Quarter 2 will be offered an opportunity to take or submit a yearbook picture in Semester 2.
We are continuously updating our volunteer pages on our website. We look forward to the start of the school year and sharing with you new volunteer opportunities to support Meridian School.

Again, thank you for your support!
