Union Square

THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who attended our open house last night to discuss our concept for "Union Square." Our mission is to be very transparent with this project and keep everyone involved as much as possible. We have a big vision for our downtown. We want to make sure that we are meeting the needs of our community and increasing the quality of life and place here in Union County. For those that were unable to attend last night, here is an overview of what we discussed.

Our Why

  • Enhance and revitalize our downtown area
  • Improve our housing market by bringing more options to our town
  • Encourage entrepreneurship and business growth by offering space to thrive
  • Expand job opportunities in our community with space for retail, restaurants and more
  • Provide a year around area for family fun events
  • Accessible green space for all ages to enjoy

Funding

As they say, you eat an elephant one bite at a time and that is exactly what we are doing with this project. Our Union Square concept is made up of three phases each costing approximately $5M. We are seeking funding through grants, local and private investment, as well as developers. If you are interested in hearing more about private investment or development, please contact Olivia Chewning at the Foundation.

Stay in the Loop

Continue watching our newsletter and Facebook for updates. Also, be sure to find us out and about at local events. See you soon!

  • Fairground St. is the very top of the picture and Market St. is the very bottom.
  • Along Union (left) would potentially be a 2 or 3 story building with housing, retail and work space.
  • The current ally will stay in place and provide a walk way to access the square from the parking lot or Market St.
  • The green space and open pavilion will be along E. Seminary St. directly across from the Library.
  • The parking lot will be along side Fairground St.

Coming onto walk way from Market St. Housing, retail and office space to the left. Green space and pavilion to the right.

Under and near the green space area. Open pavilion in the background.

These images are only concepts and potential plans. This project is broken up into three phases. We do not have a timeline but our goal is to have this project completed in no longer than 10 years.
