Sunset over Cambria

"The charming coastal town of Cambria has a long history as an artist’s enclave. Sitting amidst Monterey pines and wine country, with a thriving Main Street filled with independently owned shops and restaurants, Cambria is a favorite destination for those seeking a little respite.
Despite the town’s charms, it is the sublime coastline that draws the eye.

Sitting on Moonstone Beach and watching the sunset with a good local wine for company is as good as it gets!

Enjoy creating your own memory of Cambria." - Laura Bryant

This beautiful color pallet was created just for us by Laura Bryant of Prism Yarn based on two photos we sent her of some sunsets over Cambria. We think she did an amazing job! She also created two patterns to go along with this limited edition kit.

One of the patterns, modeled by Oz at the left in the middle, is an eccentric chevron pattern. It's knit the long way and there's no tying in ends as the ends get braided once you're finished!

The second one shown at the top and above the sunset photos, is a set of interlocking triangles with some fun color work. As demonstrated by Laura Bryant, our lovely model at the top, the piece is designed to sit very well on your shoulders.

This is lovely yarn to work with. It's soft yet surprisingly durable. You can really feel the quality. You can even machine wash it! Every skein is hand-dyed by Laura. This is the last run of these kits so get one today!

East Village Wrap

Sometimes you need a soft, little something to throw over your shoulder when you go out. We have just the thing!

The East Village Wrap, designed by Kris Gregson, is an easy to knit piece that can be made from a wide range of yarns. We love this piece in Trendsetter Icon, a beautiful Alpaca/Silk/Cotton blend yarn that is light as a feather and oh so soft. We used 5 balls to make a nice, full wrap.

The wrap is knit on US 11's so it goes pretty fast. It's a project you'll enjoy doing and you'll really enjoy wearing it!

This can also be knit with Trendsetter Placid , a cashmere blend yarn that's just delightful. (5 skeins for a shorter wrap, 6 for a longer length.)

It's also available as a download on Ravelry!

Auntie Woolie Says...

Our little shop has been closed to the public for over 8 weeks now. Yes, we're shipping far more than we ever did and we're grateful for that, but it's no substitute for welcoming our guests into the shop.

We chuckle when we used to worry about having to close for a day or if we were 5 minutes late opening the store. It's funny how your perspective changes.

We were talking with a young woman who was delighted that she and her husband can both work from home, as they have a young child to care for and it's easier for them to share the responsibilities now as their schedules are far more flexible than before.

We find ourselves mourning the tragic losses but we also remind ourselves of our good fortune, our wonderful community (that's you!), and the interesting and unique experiences we continue to have. One thing we all know is nothing lasts forever. One day we will all have many "yarns to spin" about our experiences during this time.

Until next time, please stay well and...

Happy Stitching!
The store front may be closed, but you can still:
This weekend is designed to be low stress, relaxing, educational, and most of all, fun! Kris will be around to talk about the new design you'll receive as part of the weekend, or you can work with her on any project of your choice. There's no formal instruction, but we're sure you'll learn a lot, have some fun, and gain some new friends from all over!
Stitching with Kris!

Join us September 25 - 27 for a relaxing weekend in Cambria

We don't know what the fall will bring to us, but we've decided to go ahead with a weekend event we've been planning.

Imagine spending three days in Cambria with an industry professional and life-long knitter and crocheter. Now imagine this in a beautiful Inn surrounded by people, like you, that also love to knit and crochet. That's the idea behind "Stitching with Kris." Think of it as a weekend knitting group.

We've set this for the fall and made our cancellation policies clear so that we keep everyone's safety and comfort in mind.

A Classic Pattern

We're knitting this classic feather and fan stitch pattern using one skein of Brighton Beac h from Queensland, a Cotton/Linen blend that's perfect for the warmer weather. It's also machine washable!

Feather and Fan Crochet Scarf

Designed by our own Bell Koch and Kris Gregson, this simple and fun scarf can be worked up using a variety of yarns. We used one skein of Sonata, a lovely wool-free yarn from our friends at Noro. Sonata features all solid colors, and they are so breathtaking and vibrant. It's a yarn we've truly grown to love. If you want the piece longer, get two skeins!

We did mention sale yarn, didn't we? It's easy to find what's discounted at the web site, just click on "On Sale" and see everything we have discounted! These are final sale items and we're unable to special order them, as a rule.

Yarn Bombing Group
Our tree outside the shop needs a new sweater, and we need your help!

Our beloved, and much photographed 'yarn bombed' tree outside the shop needs to be refreshed. The lovely squares all around the tree are getting to the point where we really need to replace it.

We need squares! Make us a 12" square. If it's a little longer, that's ok! Any yarn, though the best would be something like Berroco Ultra Wool, as it's durable, washable, and holds it shape well over time. We'll take any fiber, any design, any technique! So knit it, crochet it, weave it, whatever makes you happy!

Here's a knit and a crochet pattern for 4" granny squares. If you multiply everything by 3, you should get a 12" square!

Then drop your square(s) off at the shop, or mail them to us at the address below:

Be sure to include your name so we can thank you for them!

We'll let you know when we're ready to decorate the tree.
It won't be soon.
It's always a fun day and we love the help!
