Well this century is sure flying by. It seems that just the other day we were worrying about millennium bugs and now we're almost one fifth the way though. All of us here at Unique want to thank you for your support last year and wish you the very best in 2019. And of course that goes for what's left of the century as well.
There are some people who would prefer that their carpet does not become the focal point of their room. They feel carpet should be the understated foundation upon which good interior design sits. Of course, we can't understand this at all. There are others who would rather not spend tens of thousands of dollars on a houseful of carpet. Again, the logic escapes! Be that as it may, we have a great answer for both of these types of poor lost souls. It's Bellaire, our next broadloom introduction. With its low-profile texture of 100% pure New Wool, Bellaire magnificently blends understated good looks and long-term durability at a very attainable price. Bellaire is available in the four beautiful color-ways shown below.
Our new product introduction schedule shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. So to make room for new products that are currently in various stages of development, we need to do a little pre-spring cleaning and move out some of our slower selling items. Accordingly, the following products have been discontinued and remaining inventory has been moved to specials.
Please remove any samples of these items from your showroom and shelves but don't throw them away because we have significant quantities of all products and all of it is available at significantly reduced prices. So make someone happy, sell them some. To check inventory and availability, see below.

Wool Facts - Insulation
Several years ago we wrote; "Sheep seldom shiver, which is good because wolves can hear teeth chattering from a thousand meters". Actually, the reason they don't shiver is because they're covered with a warm and cozy layer of pure natural wool, one of the finest and most effective insulating materials available. In fact wool carpet is as much as 50% better as an insulator than synthetic carpet, which can have a dramatic effect on heating bills this time of year (air-conditioning bills too, but that's a story for another season).
Which brings us to Romania. Whaaat? That's right, Romania. Here's the deal; as it turns out, it gets pretty brisk in Romania. Winters are long and cold and keeping warm is a much bigger deal there than, let's say, here in Southern California. Also, as luck would have it, Romania has the third largest population of sheep in the EU. So they've recently created another viable option for its use; wool batting in various lengths and thicknesses for use as insulation in new-home construction. Wool is well suited for use in wood-framed construction and being natural and sustainable it adds significantly to the 'green' story, which is a very big deal in Europe. According to the Agriculture Minister, apart from insulation, "wool has other significant advantages over synthetic products", not the least of which is its natural flame resistance, which is also a very big deal in new home construction. The process of getting the product approved is underway and the first wool-insulated homes will become available in Europe later this year.
