Yesterday, July 2, 2025, we received the County’s latest contract proposal—and it remains unacceptable. It is difficult to watch as surrounding agencies (met with similar challenges) are somehow creatively finding ways to fund equitable public safety contracts.
The County has yet to display a genuine commitment to fair compensation. They continue to offer inappropriate cost‑of‑living adjustments, despite rising living costs, while claiming financial strain. At what point will public safety be prioritized? The tragic impacts on our members’ lives due to critical personnel shortages are self-evident but NOT sustainable.
This so‑called "offer" fails to represent our commitment to our profession. It shows neither respect for our service nor understanding of our needs.
Make no mistake: we will not accept a disrespectful, inadequate deal. PPOA is united and prepared to challenge this at the bargaining table. As this process unfolds, we are ready to pivot, including potential alternative strategies. Our negotiations team will again meet with the County on or before July 23, 2025.
We remain committed to holding the County accountable and fighting for a contract that truly values your dedication and protects your future. Your support will be critical as we press on.
We need your assistance: Please help to communicate our collective frustration “directly” to the Board of Supervisors by copying/pasting the below email group from your non-county, personal email to the five supervisors and their key staff members. Share with them your authentic perspective and concerns regarding a proposal that does not represent your sacrifices.
Together, we will win the respect—and the agreement—we deserve.
