He leaves behind a legacy of excellence and faith for many generations to come. Our prayers are with the Haynes family.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Bishop Eric D. Garnes on the Trayvon Martin Case
April 8, 2012, Brooklyn, NY-The church is not just an organization, but a people -- a body of people who believe in pursuing justice for every human being regardless of race, religion, social status or economic status. The church has always been a voice for the oppressed and disenfranchised and we must continue to speak out. United Covenant Churches of Christ believes that the killing of 17-year old, unarmed Trayvon Martin was a terrible and possibly avoidable tragedy. It is our desire to see justice rendered on behalf of Trayvon and people everywhere in America.
For the safety of the citizens, residents and visitors of this country, it behooves the lawmakers in every one of the 20-plus states that has the "Stand Your Ground" or similar law to re-examine those laws. It is irresponsible to create an environment in which ordinary citizens who are not law enforcement officials can pursue and shoot unarmed individuals.
We are asking that the events surrounding this shooting be thoroughly investigated and that the ramifications of failing to do so including the impact that it can have on every community in every state in this nation be considered. It is unconscionable to allow behavior to persist that can endanger the lives of people in our society. Whether it is by repeal of the current laws that make this kind of situation possible or modification of the same, we need to ensure that the door is forever closed to the continuation of such shootings.
What a tragedy it would be if our children could no longer walk home from school or football practice or band practice without fear of being shot by a neighbor, store owner, or neighborhood watch person simply because their attire is viewed negatively or suspiciously. Whether they're donning a hoodie, grunge wear, gothic attire or adorning their hair in hues of purple, blue or green, pursuing an individual should be left to trained law enforcement officials and not to the general public. The price is just too high!

How Is Your Business Going?
The word parable in the Greek means comparison, illustration, or analogy. Jesus would use parables to tell simple stories that would hold Kingdom principals. In Luke 19 the Bible records Jesus tells a parable about Ten Minas. And as the parable starts out in vs. 13 the text says: "...he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. Put this money to work, (do business) he said, until I come back."
I have a question for you, "How is your business going?" If we are to understand the text correctly, God has put something inside of each believer. A gift, a talent, something special, but not only that, something He is expecting to see a return on. Something He is expecting a profit to come from. He is expecting for us to "do business until He comes back."
Biblical Entrepreneurship BE is a live intensive business discipleship program that is certified by Regent Universities Center for Entrepreneurship in partnership with Nehemiah Project International and InVision Inc.
This three part program consist of BE I, BE II, and BE III. This summer we will be offering BE I which is "Principles of Biblical Entrepreneurship" which provides foundational Biblical principles and core business concepts. BE I teaches the Biblical approach to identifying opportunities, taking calculated risks, solving problems, and exercising stewardship for biblical profit while developing a Christ-centered character and attitude.
If you are interested in finding out how you might be able to take advantage of this unique, timely, and relevant ministry that bridges the gap between the church and commerce contact us about class times and locations.

The Order of the Apostolic Knights of Pentecost
The Order of the Apostolic Knights of Pentecost was designed to serve as the official "Honor Guard" to the Presiding Bishop and the Apostolic Office. Since its inception, the order has since become the security force of this reformation known as United Covenant Churches of Christ (UNITED). The men and women in the O.A.K. of P. serve proudly and submit to the authority of God and to Spiritual leadership with the intent to secure the interest of the church, the congregation and its leaders.
It is the vision of our Presiding Bishop that we grow, numerically to 100 Knights, serving God and the reformation, and every day we are moving closer to fulfilling the vision.
On Friday, April 6, 2012 at Tabernacle of Praise (Cathedral) in the city of Brooklyn, NY, five knights were knighted: Cordell Campbell, Sierra White, Javier Wiggins, Kai Martin and Eli Francois. Kai Martin was commissioned to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and assigned as a Platoon Leader at Nazareth Christian Fellowship. These newly appointed knights have served diligently during their time of training, and are now prepared and ready to serve at our 23rd National Holy Convocation in Atlanta.
I do ask Bishops, Overseers and Pastors to encourage your security personnel to become a part of this national organization. They can obtain an application on line at www.unitedcovenantchurches.com, or you can email us at apostolic_knight@yahoo.com for more information. It is our hope that the organization will be a valuable tool in every Diocese throughout UNITED. We pray that God will use this fellowship of men and women to His glory.
In His Service,
Major General Martin J. De Silva
Commandant
Order of Apostolic Knights of Pentecost

May 19, 2012 marks a major milestone for our beloved Pastor and Founder. Pastor J. Marcellas Williams turns the big '30'. We are elated to be able to share this great turning-point with him.
Thirty is such a significant age: Jesus commences ministry at 30 (Luke 3:23), Joseph was 30 when he stood before Pharaoh, King of Egypt (Genesis 41:46), King David was 30 when he began to reign (2 Samuel 5:4), and the Levites were numbered from the age of 30 and upward (1 Chronicles 23:3).
Thus, we have great anticipation for what God has in store for this great man of God. This is just the beginning. Pastor, happy birthday, your LCI Disciples love you!

Haven't gotten your copy yet? This devotional is a wonderful look at one of the simple ways that we can hear the voice of God. "Some of the most special and significant times of my life are those simple parenting moments that occur almost everyday. Moments when completely unbeknownst to my children, I have heard the voice of God in their conversations and seen His hand in the things they do. It has caused me to listen more carefully when God speaks through children." -Pastor Terry HIll, Jr.
