211 is Hiring!

Are you ready to make a difference in our community?

211 is seeking a bilingual 211/SACA Resource Navigator. This dual role provides hands-on, community-based services to remove barriers to those seeking assistance. This position is responsible for answering incoming calls, walk-ins, chat and text platforms, in addition to collecting client information and demographics. An emphasis on quality customer service skills and accurate data recording is essential.

Apply now by emailing espinosa-vargas@uwlanc.org with your resume.

Join Us for 211 Day!

211 experienced a 25% increase in contact volume in 2023 as compared to 2022! More than 44,000 contact points were made from those seeking community resource information for Lancaster County by telephone, digital medias including email, text, and chat, and self-guided searches on our website. We attribute this increase partially to increased staffing within the PA 211 East Contact Center and increased awareness.

Warm Home, Warm Hearts

Exciting news! We are reintroducing our Warm Homes, Warm Hearts initiative, offering a free heating system to a deserving homeowner. This year, we are partnering with Brubaker Inc. to make a difference in our community.

We are thrilled to share that our valued partner, Brubaker Inc., has committed to assisting two homeowners by providing new heating systems. They have already initiated discussions with the families, exploring the most efficient and effective options tailored to their specific needs.

If you or someone you know is facing challenges heating your home or feeling burdened by heating costs, please contact a local 211 Resource Navigator 24/7 by calling 211 or 855-567-5341, texting your zip code to 898211, or using the 211 online web chat service.

Level Up & Launch:

United Way is on a mission to make Lancaster County a thriving community for all of our neighbors. To achieve this goal, we’ve created Level Up & Launch – a grant program that will invest a total of $500,000 in innovative projects that address service gaps and disparities in the community. By focusing on the three main building blocks of education, health and economic mobility, we aim to serve those marginalized individuals who are suffering from systemic inequities. Our Level Up & Launch grants provide not only funding for these projects, but ongoing support to the grantees to enable their success.

THANK YOU!

We appreciate all the United Way campaign coordinators who planned and orchestrated employee giving campaigns at their workplaces this past year.  From information sessions and presentations to special events—whether in person or virtual—using pledge forms or online pledging sites, these efforts have generated over $1 million in pledges so far. These funds will support numerous local programs, helping our neighbors.

Most regional and national company results have not been reported yet, representing almost two thirds of our workplace campaigns. And a handful of local companies have chosen to conduct their United Way campaigns between February and May. We’re excited because $1 million is a great beginning for the 2023-2024 campaign year.

If you or your employer have questions about conducting an employee giving campaign, please email campaign@uwlanc.org and we’ll respond.

Individual Cohort Continues to Learn & Grow

Our Project Blueprint cohort reconvened in January 2024 after the Holiday break. This month marked the beginning of the second phase of our Individual Cohort training program, with a focus on Governance and Board Member Roles & Responsibilities.

The first session of this series, led by our President and CEO Kate Zimmerman, focused on the vital aspects of Governance & Building Effective Boards. Cohort members gained valuable insights into the essentials of establishing strong boards, emphasizing their crucial role in organizational success. The session served as a dynamic forum where attendees developed a deeper understanding of governance principles, board leadership, board management, and strategic decision-making.
