COVID-19 QUICKLY CHANGED the economic reality for many households in Tompkins County. Unemployment, temporary lay-offs, and reduced work hours suddenly made it difficult for many families to afford basic household needs. People who had never been in need of local services before suddenly need help.
That's why this summer, United Way of Tompkins County partnered with 2-1-1 to create the new United Way/ 2-1-1 COVID-19 Response Program. This program provides eligible households with grants up to $500 for qualified expenses.
