Community Conversations Update

You told us. We listened.

Over the fall and early winter, we conducted almost thirty Community Conversations across Northeast Mississippi. We talked to people of all ages and walks of life, and found that, across our communities, the issues we heard revolve around many of the same themes. So we set out to use what you told us to help us work toward improving our communities.

We pulled together experts in our focus areas: Academic Success, Health, and Family Stability , who identified the prominent issues you said were facing our communities and shared some potential strategies for addressing these problems.

Then last Friday, our board of directors met for an all-day retreat to help finalize the next step in United Way's evolution from charity to change , which will use the Community Impact model to create measurable impact by investing in programs with proven outcomes.

We could not do this without you, so thank you for your input, and for everyone who has dedicated their time and knowledge to this process. We will keep you updated throughout this transition so that you know your United Way investment is creating a real impact on your community, making life better for Northeast Mississippians.
