Help Needed for Summer BreakBox Program
For a lot of kids, summer means hunger. Those students who rely on free breakfast and lunch at school and weekend backpack programs don't have access to those services during the summer break. That's why last year we worked with the Tupelo/Lee County Hunger Coalition to provide summer food for kids across Lee County.

This year, the BreakBox program is expanding to serve even more kids. 800 students have already registered for the program, and the need is even greater than that. The program will also serve an additional two school districts this year, Nettleton and Baldwyn.

But money is still needed to make BreakBox possible! Please consider visiting to learn more and to make a donation. $25 can provide a box for a child and $75 can keep them fed for the whole summer!

Volunteers are also needed to help pack the boxes. Visit the volunteer hub to sign up as an individual or a group.
United Way Day of Action: Literacy Kit Drive
Each year, United Ways across the world participate in a Day of Action on June 21, the longest day of the year. This year, we are participating by building Literacy Kits for pre-K classrooms at daycares across our region. Each kit will contain books, arts and crafts supplies, pre-writing activities, and more to help these 4-year-olds on their road to reading.

Right now, we need to procure the supplies for these kits, and that's where you can help. You can visit our Amazon Wish List and purchase items directly or simply make a monetary donation at

Then come out on June 21 and help us pack the kits! Look for more information on volunteering as the date draws nearer.

United Way Campaign Awards

This is our season to say THANK YOU!

If you receive the Daily Journal or any of the local weekly newspapers in our seven counties, you received our awards insert on Sunday or Wednesday. This publication recognizes the many companies and individuals who made our 2018 campaign a success. You can view all of the awards on our website.

Watch our Facebook page for other presentations to our corporate partners in the next weeks! We love taking this opportunity to recognize and thank these companies and individuals in person for investing so much in our communities.
