Exodus Homes holiday Honor Cards

Exodus Homes, a Catawba County United Way funded partner, has the 2023 "Hope Heals" Honor Cards available now for the holidays.

Each card is $5, has information about Exodus Homes and the recipient learns that a gift was made in their honor to the faith-based organization that provides 73 beds of supportive housing for homeless recovering people returning to the community from treatment centers and prisons. One hundred percent of the proceeds from sales goes to support Exodus Homes.

This year's Honor Card entitled "Hope Heals" depicts the kindness of one man helping another man who seems to be homeless.

The LA based artist James Smith who created the "Hope Heals" Exodus Homes Honor Card grew up in the Exodus ministry and saw the development of Exodus Homes from the very beginning in 1998.

"The 'Hope Heals' Honor Card encapsulates the essence of the holiday season - a time when our hearts are more receptive to love, compassion and giving,” Smith said. “It serves as a reminder that we have the power to heal and uplift others through the simplest acts of kindness. It signifies an invitation - a call to action for each of us to be a source of healing and hope in our community. It is a reminder that even a small gesture can make a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most."

First Horizon Bank has partnered with Exodus Homes for many years, providing the funding to produce and manage the Exodus Homes "Hope Heals" Honor Cards.

NC Medicaid expands to cover more individuals

NC Medicaid will soon cover people ages 19 through 64 years with higher incomes. You may be able to get health care coverage through Medicaid even if you didn’t qualify before. Medicaid pays for doctor visits, yearly check-ups, emergency care, mental health and more – at little or no cost to you.

Starting Dec. 1, most people will be able to get health care coverage through NC Medicaid if:

  • You live in North Carolina
  • You are 19-64 years old
  • You are a citizen. (Some non-US citizens can also get health care coverage through Medicaid.)
  • And if your household meets income requirement.

If someone is pregnant, they may be eligible for other Medicaid programs to get full health benefits. And if you were eligible before, you still are. Nothing changes for you.

NC Medicaid covers most health services. It includes doctor visits, checkups, emergency care, hospital services, maternity and postpartum care, vision and hearing services, prescription drugs, behavioral health, preventative and wellness services, devices, and more. There’s no monthly fee and copays are never more than $4.
