School supply drive ends with 7,000 items collected

Thank You…Thank You.

Haworth closed out this year’s annual United Way School Supply drive, dropping off their donations last week and giving us one last boost for the event.

Together, with all our other community collection partners, we received nearly 7,000 individual items.

These donations mean public schools in all three Catawba County school districts will have the extra supplies they need to keep student backpacks filled with all the classroom essentials.

And Thank You again to everyone who helps support this United Way event. Together we can make a difference.

Stewards of Children has launched a new training this year. The training goal is preventing, identifying and responding to child sexual abuse

A sample of the learning objectives guiding this training include:

• Recognize the power and impact you have within your sphere of influence.

• Distinguish between the myths and facts of child sexual abuse.

• Examine ways to minimize opportunities for abuse in a variety of situations including online and gaming environments.

• Discuss strategies to bridge cultural gaps that may potentially inhibit open communication.

Contact Ashley at lmoretz@catawbacountync.gov for questions and/or how you can get your group on the calendar for a free training.
