Your Impact in Action

Women United for Community Schools recently hosted an educational session presented by the Strong Vincent Middle School Team -- Andrea Gloystein, Principal, Katrina Byrd, Community School Director and Kaitlyn Falk, Community School Coordinator.

The event was held at the Erie Yacht Club and Strong Vincent students who take part in the Erie Yacht Club Foundation summer sailing program, funded by grants from the Erie Yacht Club Foundation, were in attendance along with their moms. The parents provided personal testimonials and expressed their gratitude to the Strong Vincent administrative team and teachers who are all like “extended family” according to one mom. In addition, Janel Bonsell and Dana Zaphiris, Women United Executive Council members, spoke about the impact Women United is making in Community Schools in Erie County to help level the playing field so all children can succeed in school.

Women United is at the forefront of United Way Worldwide’s global movement to build stronger communities. It is a national force of more than 70,000 women dedicated to creating a world of opportunity – for everyone. Together, on both a national and local level, Women United are creating lasting change to lift entire communities.
